Dear friend of mine, the more i read into what you're writing, the more i am convinced that the best exercises for you are lots of aerobic ones and sparse, light weight-lifting. I'd say that if you just want to maintain a good shape and physical condition, 30-60 mins of various aerobic exercises each day with some good ol' push-ups and ab exercises are the best recipe.Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders. -

Thanks D.
Unfortunately I can't do abs due to the hernia thing again (yeah, it's annoying, and that's why I'm so FRIGGING annoyed with Steven. I don't want anyone to have to go through that, and it's (generally) so avoidable )
Like I said: I really need to build up the muscles in my back and shoulders.
That is really key for reinforcing my back.
But you're right: from a general condition point of view. awerobic excercise seems a good idea. I've been looking into the skip-rope possibility (VERY good tip! Thanks for that! ) But I haven't enough room at home to do it (well, not without shattering windows, CDs or computers...).
Luckily we're approaching spring, so I might be able to get going outside.
(60 minutes a DAY?!?

Well, 60 mins is the perfect amount of time, you're aiming to that, IF you're able to do that, but 15-20 mins a day for starters is pretty good.
What about jogging or cycling?Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders. -

Jogging looks stupid. I always want to run over jogger with my bike.
So that leaves cycling, which I love to do!
Used to have 90 minutes every day to work, which was great, but we've relocated to a location without showers (because T-Systems likes to present itself as a green company so they encourage...erm...well, the use of polluting transport, I guess?), so that's out (you DON'T want to sit next to me for 8 hours when I've had to cycle for 45 minutes at top speed!).

As for going out jogging ( I hate it and don't do it ), pounding concrete with bad footwear is bad for you and is no good for people with hip problems. On Friday I ate a lot of dust and appeared orange near the end of the day ~ Bregt -

And I've had some friends do some serious damage to their kneecaps running around!
Either they're overdoing things (which I would suspect), or you really can't do anything healthy without consulting a specialist...'no passion nor excitement here, despite all the notes and musicians' ~ Falkirkbairn -

Jesus Timmer...I 'me getting a pain down my back just reading that.
That is some pretty damn serious lifting!
Checked on the techniques, and unfortunately though, none of it's for me: there's SO much pressure on the lower back I'd do myself an injury. (Not that i'd want to compete with a twenty-year old, mind... gramps already has some trouble lifting his glasses... )
(of port)
Thanks for sharing that, though! Mightily impressive!
Thanks!
I'm gearing myself up to start getting fit again starting next Monday, I'll be using weight training again but nowhere near the degree when I was young ( my joints are too knackered anyway ), it'll be plenty of aerobic traing combined with light weights geared towards getting fit ( well, light for me ) plus some lifestyle changes regarding diet and a big cut down in beer consumptionOn Friday I ate a lot of dust and appeared orange near the end of the day ~ Bregt -

I'm lucky regarding cycling, within 10 ninutes of where I am I can be cycling in countryside, static cycling is far more healthy than cycling in the polluted city but also very boring. On Friday I ate a lot of dust and appeared orange near the end of the day ~ Bregt -

Yeah, but he can do it without any fear, right? I mean for his tormented body parts, i'd say it's the best solution if he doesn't want a treadmill.Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders. -

Watching Zumba is a lot of fun as well. Even better than watching beach volley, I'd say! -
