Maurice Jarre - The Emotion and the Strength (2-CD compilation) ****

Not bad, gives a reasonably good overview of both Mr Jarre's well-known and more obscure scores.

I think that one's an outstanding compilation. I love Jarre, but there are times when a theme is all you really need from his scores - and many of his best ones are on this.

I wouldn't be surprised if they surpass the original synth meanderings, which suck donkey ass.
    I am extremely serious.

    lol

My sunny days are over, I am now retired
Awarded many times, I've been greatly admired.
Epic and majestic, lush and tender, simple and sparse,
I have done them all. Southall can pick me out with just a few bars
Alas one day my son showed his Korg, and got me hooked
Gee! Those synthesizers have some cool sounds that can't be overlooked
Since then my orchestral gifts went waning and afar
Yes my name is Maurice Jarre.

Oh yes! I had it on my HD for some months now, and saw it over at SAE (the other sources we expensive). These long tracks are so addictive, as is the "So Now Then" piece at the end.

  2. The music works absolutely mesmerizing in the film, have you seen it Bregt? It's a fantastic film with incredible emotional depth, thanks to the truly spectacular acting and some inspired music choices which fit the film like a glove.

Yes, very good film. Perhaps a bit snobbish near the end?

  3. I loved the ending, never saw it coming, what do you mean by snobbish?

I received a package from SAE yesterday that contained Battlestar Galactica - Season 4.
I'm having problems listening to CD1 on my PC. Neither WMP nor Real Player recognise the disc and nothing shows up when I try to "see" the CD in Windows Explorer. The CD is recognised in a separate CD player (total tracks and total playing time appear) and my PC played CD2 from this set and other CDs.

A faulty CD? I've contacted SAE for a replacement but I've yet to hear back from them. sad

Mine is running fine on Winamp. Haven´t tried other players, though.

I contacted SAE and they've no problem sending me a replacement - when I remember to remind them with a comment in the comments box with my next order.

I've just ordered the Exodus re-recording but forgot to remind them.

I need to make a note to remind me to remind them... dizzy
