Well it's over, despite Murphy's breakdown in the final session, still a decent finale! What a miss on the blue I'm glad I can go to bed hehe.
He still wasn't a sure in for winning but that miss on the blue was unbelievable. If the blue had gone in and Murphy went on to win that frame it would have been a psychological blow to Selby. Good match but I was a bit disappointed it didn't go to the wire.On Friday I ate a lot of dust and appeared orange near the end of the day ~ Bregt -

So Tour de Ski is off again!
It's pretty amazing -- and more than a tad embarassing -- that in the 6 years it has lasted, no Norwegians have ever won this damn thing, neither women nor men.
It looks very difficult this year too. In the women's class, Polish Juzstyna Kowalzyk is once again in a class of her own. She's a damn machine! So she's impossible to beat in the overall. In the men's class, Swiss Dario Cologna is once again the favourite. However, at this point -- only the second day in the tour -- I have more hopes for our own Petter Northug than I've had in a few years.I am extremely serious. -

I think it's safe to say that shame ends at the Scandinavian borders.
But I hope Norway will win this year Thor -

Well, cross-country skiing is quite big in certain European countries -- Sweden, Finland, Russia, Germany, Poland (due to Kowalzyk, mostly), Austria, Italy, Switzerland, Slovenia. Czechs are doing great now too (lead by the legendary Lukas Bauer). Outside Europe, Canada is always a great contender. And USA is getting there, lead by yesterday's leg winner Kikkan Randall. So it's not only in Scandinavia.
But yeah, I know it isn't that big in the Benelux countries and the UK, which make up a great deal of this board. UK has Andrew Musgrave and he's pretty good.
It is our national sport, though, so all eyes are fixed on the telly during Tour de Ski (and other ski events).I am extremely serious. -

I'll keep an eye out for it, I'm sure it will still look great with digital television now, I'm a sucker for any outside sport with great coverage. -

Not surprised. I doubt cross-country skiing is popular in the UK.I am extremely serious. -

In the US we're getting into some of the meaningful football games. Our BCS game comes up Monday pitting Notre Dame against Alabama. The NFL playoffs begin this weekend. The Minnesota team is in this year but they have a daunting task of having to beat Green Bay at home outside. This will be the frozen tundra referenced in the past.

The first round is finished. Minnesota, Indianapolis, Washington, and Cincinnati were eliminated. Round two is this weekend.

As predicted, the Norwegian athletes fell through in the Tour de Ski overall. Legkov won the men's and Kowalczyk won the women's. I don't what it is about this form of competition, but we are really struggling to find one that is suited for all the legs, and the one we DID have (Marit Bjørgen) had to pass this year's event due to heart flutter.
I am extremely serious. -

Having watched the two evening sessions of the masters snookers tournament so far (Allen/Davis, Maguire/Dott), I've been a bit underwhelmed by the scrappy frames (red balls scattered all over the place taking forever to clear), maybe I've missed out on better matches in the afternoon? Will definitely check out the Trump match this afternoon. -

Finally some excitement with the Trump/Hawkins match; still need to see the outcome of tonight's match but I would be surprised if Murphy didn't win this. -

The final four in football this year is San Francisco, Atlanta, Baltimore, and New England. I have a feeling about Baltimore this year.

Murphy came through.
Howabout Matthew Stevens though?
How the hell he lost from 4-1 up? ( it should even have been 5-0 up ) This time tomorrow he'll either be still kicking himself up the arse or trying to rebuild the 20,000 piece jig-saw he smashed his cue into.
On Friday I ate a lot of dust and appeared orange near the end of the day ~ Bregt -

Well in all honesty, Williams played extremely poorly in the first session and had it been any other player you can rule out a comeback. Had Stevens not missed that brown ball at 0-3, I think it would've been game over for Williams then and there. Glad to see the matches starting to get interesting -

Agree! No real fireworks yet but some really great tense up and down matches that makes things unpredictable. Looking forward to seeing Selby in action later. On Friday I ate a lot of dust and appeared orange near the end of the day ~ Bregt -

Wow, again what a comeback... !!! Feel sorry for Bingham, but I think in the end the nerves got the best of him and some shot choices that felt weird. For instance, when he had Selby snookered behind pink in the second to last frame, why not have it put back instead of trying to snooker him again behind brown (which he failed to do). He had him already snookered! Still credit to Selby for showing yet again top form under pressure! -

Great match! That escape from Robertson out of that snooker to pot the red was for me the shot of the tournament. I think he's the best contender for the title this year. -

Definitely a contender ( and how gutted must Allen be after such a brilliant snooker behind the yellow ). We'll have to see how some of the other favourite like Higgins and Selby play as it progresses. On Friday I ate a lot of dust and appeared orange near the end of the day ~ Bregt -

That's a shame Jon but it never has been an American game has it. If you could watch we'd then have a 3rd person in the conversation giving their opinion. On Friday I ate a lot of dust and appeared orange near the end of the day ~ Bregt -

Same goes for Mark Williams who gave an incredibly poor show against Mark Selby who was also playing badly but still won 6-1
For me Neil Robertson is the man to beat.On Friday I ate a lot of dust and appeared orange near the end of the day ~ Bregt -
