Keane - Hopes and Fears
Their first and still their best. Not a guitar in sight and bloody brilliant britpop. The tunes are insanely infectious and performed with passion and guts. Loving it each time.
the first is indeed the best of the 3, but the second has some of the coolest songs yetwaaaaaahhhhhhhh!!! Where's my nut? arrrghhhhhhh -

I must admit I'm not keen on Keane.
Some pleasant pop ditties but they don't rock my boat.On Friday I ate a lot of dust and appeared orange near the end of the day ~ Bregt -

That's because they're no rock band mate. As far as I can tell not a single guitar riff is present in 'Hopes and Fears'.
And what do you mean you're not keane on Keen?

Orchestral Works Volume 3 Vincent D'Indy. This is new to me and includes Istar, Symphony No. 3, and a saxophone work. So far I need to get into it as this is the first listen.

What an odd review.
"These are not his last recordings and these are not his lost recordings. We've been very careful about that. But it's important to recognise that these are also not sketchy one-guitar demos. This is real stuff that he obviously felt very strongly about."
So these tracks weren't lost. They're not his last. They're not demos... so what are they?
A full album they forgot about for forty years?
Maybe they didn't think Hendrix would sell well?
It's all very weird.
I'd love to hear more on how this came to light.'no passion nor excitement here, despite all the notes and musicians' ~ Falkirkbairn -

Religion sure does inspire some astounding music. Very Vaughan Williamsesque, which is fine by me! -

Part of Alan Gilbert: The Inaugural Season - iTunes Pass, the greatest classical music recordings collection I have ever invested my money in. The An American in Paris is virtually flawless.

Nice! My youth orchestra recently performed it. I played 2nd horn.
There's some sweet horn licks in that piece.

Arthur Fiedler conducted in the 60's. I guess I'm getting to be that old.

Four Preludes for Chamber Orchestra Boris Tchaikovsky. I'm quite taken by the interesting combination of instruments that Boris chose for this work. I can understand why the Soviet government banned it at the time.
