I'll ask Decca for a review copy and perhaps do a comparison of the recordings that I currently have which is rather substantial. I believe I have Karajan, Boult, Jurowski, Jones, a Telarc recording, the version for two pianos, Stokowski, and Previn.

Back in the late 70's I went to a performance of The Planets with Andre Previn conducting the LSO, he also performed Vaughan Williams, The Wasps overture, I still have Previn's autograph on the LP for RVW's 3rd symphony, hard to believe that though I was already into film music at that time I had no idea that Andre Previn had already had a prominent career as a Hollywood film composer, information was very lacking back in those days.

You have, as always, exquisite taste beer

All I have is an old episode of Mock The Week on 'Dave' and a mug of coffee, and a warm house so not bad really.

NP: SIMPLE THINGS - ZERO 7

Although it's a very 'Summer sunset' kind of sound, this album's just as good for late night wine drinking session such as the one I'm enjoying now, after a fucking busy night at work.

Hooverphonic - Hooverphonic Presents Jackie Cane

We can be proud of this belgian threesome, because we don't have many music bands delivering such quality. Wonderful and catchy pop tunes with a great vocalist adding so much colour to them. This is my favourite album from them and features everything from symphonic, big band, ambient, acoustic to trip-hop.

But sadly Geike Arnaert has gone solo and she is now replaced by a new vocalist, though I can't say she sounds as good as Geike. Looking forward to their next album, with this single which sounds nice enough.

    YES!!!!!!!

I think it'll be right up your alley Tim.

You'll love its often big Barry-esque sound. And the previous singer Geike Arnaert has such a special voice.

Check out 'Hooverphonic presents Jackie Cane' and 'No More Sweet Music'.

I wouldn't say the new vocalist is as good as Geike but I do absolutely love the new single The Night Before
