Yeah, but i've not listened to it yet. Depends, there's a big possibility i won't like it but i am in for more descriptions. It's not that i always do not like cool, uplifting music though (if that's the case), i mean i am a sucker for Henry Mancini (for instance) but Marvin's probably not him

Fantastic Mr Fox - Alexandre Desplat
Finally, a CD actually arrived.
First impression: very quirky. Rather irritatingly so. Not enjoying it at all. -

It's just so bitty. So many very short tracks which are intended (presumably) to be amusing. It's nothing like Elfman. -

Not at all. Newman can do more in a 30-second track than 99% of film composers can do in a 90-minute score. -

Alternately, tracks such as "Preacher Boy", "Thunder Bird", "Let Us Pray For Dinner" & "Nobis" are worth listening to.The views expressed in this post are entirely my own and do not reflect the opinions of maintitles.net, or for that matter, anyone else. http://www.racksandtags.com/falkirkbairn -

I think there's only one track of Desplat's music on CD that isn't heard in full on the website. What you get there is basically Desplat's contribution to the film. I think this score will polarize people. I think there are some really nice things that happen in a couple tracks, but for the most part I agree with James. For anyone who hasn't checked it out on the site, http://www.fantasticmrfoxmovie.com/ -

It seemed rather Morricone quirky to me. (Indeed, there is one theme that is such a Morricone tribute, it made me laugh to hear it.) With a hint of that quirky feel Mark Mothersbaugh did for other Wes Anderson films.A butterfly thinks therefore I am -

It's Jordi. If God were to exist, he'd find a flaw. (You know, apart from disease, war, crime, birth deformities, pedophilia and all the rest of it.) -

And then that non-existent God might say: "Oh, so you'd rather be a moralistic robot among robots with no ability to make your own mistakes, learn from them, protected from the possibility that you might stuff it all up. Sorry, you guys talk about freedom and choice so much I thought I'd leave a few things in your capable hands."

He's done at least two things that were enjoyable:
1. The "rugrats" theme -- even if it's cheesey, even if for a cartoon, it's still enjoyable and catchy.
2. "Attack on Ping Island" or something like that, from "The Life Aqautic". Can't seem to find the original, just reperformances. This one sounds pretty darn close:
