Thor, I am not there, though I was in Tenerife with Maxime, where it was quite warm as well.

I wish you guys had been there as well. Fimucité was so worth it...

Oh sorry, got my festivals confused there. Still, Tenerife sounds pretty awesome too! I've never been to those islands.

My first (and only) full day in Sevilla (after a long trip in which I became fully acquainted again with Murphy's law): while Bregt and Mario (who really can't take the heat... feel free to tease them with it) had already visited Naboo (y'know, Star Wars: apparantly "a universe far, far away" was actually Spain), we visited the beautiful gardens of Alcazar, the exotic Morish and Christian influenced Alcazar palace, and the stunning Cathedral (with an intombed Columbus!). Just got back from an intoxicating Flamenco show, so I really feel engrossed in Spanish culture.

Tomorrow morning, off by train to Ubeda! Can't wait to meet all and start the filmmusic activities! (which basically started a bit in Sevilla, since I stumbled upon a sealed, new copy of North's OOP 2001 score in a big record store, normal price!). Ole!

Excellent to see you're having a good time. The Alcazar is enchanting, isn't it? I'm completely in love with it!

I know Bregt is suffering severe sunstroke.
I got the oddest text message from him, in which he asked whether he could has lolcathedralz...
I recommended coffee or medication instead...

Poor boy, it's even worse than I thought. Bregt lost his hat yesterday, I'm afraid the sun is getting him. We'll make sure to keep him in the shade (and away from the locals.

In Cordoba atm. Starting our big bus trip to Ubeda any minute now.

To get a little bit of the spirit of Ubeda, here is a (low resolution, though good sound) video recording of the final song, sung by the lovely Lisbeth Scott, at the True Blood concert here in Ubeda, last Thursday night.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O-6K-924 … tube_gdata

It was a haunting, moody concert on a charming location. Not everybody liked the created soundscapes and mood pieces, but along the way it got more melodic, with this song as the emotional payoff (performed twice, once as a looser, more playful encore (the "radio version", if you will).

Though by no means brilliant, I liked the music a lot and the combination with the venue by night was a great experience. And to hear Lisbeth perform was wonderful! (though she wouldn't take my breath away till last night, which happened while she performed Munich during the Recital: WOW! Fantastic! What a voice! And her brave attempts at Spanish showed a great personality!).

The big, final concert was last night, and man, it was amazing! It was basically one highlight after another, hard to pick one that stood out the most, but you can imagine Giacchino conducting Medal of Honor, Lennertz doing MoH and Gun, and Edelman doing pieces like To The Stars from DragonHeart were a wonder to behold.

But the real highlight were the ones I didn't count on loving this much: the live performance of North's Spartacus, for example, Blew. Me. Away! As did the final performance of Poledouris' Conan the Barbarian and (oh yes!) Goldsmith's The Final Conflict with full choir, starting with the heavenly epic final track then seguing into the main title theme! WOW! There weren't on the program and added as a bonus that simply got me ecstatic!

Now, pack some more, have breakfast with the gang, and then off to the signing session!
  2. Conan and The Final Conflict live and in the same concert! I wish I was there!
