And thanks for this brilliantly orange instrument! When I came home I gave it to my three year old son, Elmer, who hasn't been doing anything else except going around playing and laughing with it ever since. So he says thank you and I say... what did I think of? wink

Incidentally, you realize you can file for monetary compensation with delays like that, don't you?

I don't know about EasyJet, but Ryan Air always tries to circumvent those rules.

    So does EasyJet.
Doesn't make them right though (and there are specialised claim companies for things like that: they'll want a percentage of your claim, but they're very good and very tenacious).

Ouch, I just found out Bregt's flight is canceled (from this morning) until Friday! shocked

This seems like it's been a great festival for everyone apart from the trip back home.

No. Mario and I were supposed to fly to Brussels. Cancelled due to the strike in France they couldnt land in Brussels. 50% of the flights are cancelled for some reason.

Back in our hotel from last week. Any tips on what to do? We visited most tourist attractions. Perhaps an afternoon the Triana Quarter.

So, this is it. My vacation ends here. Just packed my bags for the last time. Tomorrow early in the morning I will leave for Seville, and then get on the plane to Amsterdam. Hopefully all goes well this time. Loved my visit to Spain, thanks to all who visited as well for the great company (especially Marcel, who I felt was something of our host and helped us out on several occasions), it was an awesome experience with many highlights.

Hope it's not the last time you come to the festival!

After several delays, I'm home! Now I'm going through all my pictures. Put several from Úbeda online at Facebook. Not too many from the concerts, since I made them with my phone, which isn't night- or distance-friendly:

    Just arrived in Brussels.

Fantastic trip with many highlights. Obviously the Úbeda part was one of them and certainly worth the hassle (which wasn't that bad, perhaps due to being part of a whole trip). Sevilla and Córdoba are both very interesting and offer enough variety. I've had it with churches now though.

The Mezquita (mosque with later built-in cathedral in Córdoba) was awesome. What an unbelievable combination of architecture, religion and cultures. We also attended an Arabic guitar concert (Trio Joubran, from Palestine) as part of the 30th edition of the Córdoba international guitar festival. Really quite good but the melodies were subtle and hidden in their music and percussion.

The gardens of the Réal Alcazar, the evening of the World Cup win, the Naboo palace (plaza de España) and a festivity in the Triana district Wednesday evening and a Flamenco evening in Seville have made that city very worthwile.

As for Úbeda: wow! Three excellent concerts (I actually also really liked True Blood and its bloody fine location), some interesting sessions with the composers (pity we missed Zacarias M de la Riva one), good lunches, cosy evenings and crazy nights with kazoos and Munich chanting in the streets of Úbeda. The organisation was a bit lazy though (some sessions and the guide book were not translated, the signing session was horrible) but that's probably something Spanish, so no real complaints. The English: they really have to do something about that, a lot goes lost (kudos to the excellent translators though!) but that's perhaps a national problem.

Hotpants, free tapas with beer in úbeda, flamenquín and Tinto de Verano ftw! Andalucia is awesome, except for its hell-like +40 degree temperatures.

Great to meet Mario, Bob, Marcel, Ant, Jordi, Alex, Mikael, Dan and some of the composers! Greetings to Ant's parents as well. Thanks!

    Pictures later!

Too bad there are no recordings of that. Some of the Munich chantings (with the kazoss in the background) were pretty good.

Glad most of the foreign visitors had a good time and enjoyed the experience. Now you already know what all the spirit of Úbeda stuff is about.

Well, there are recordings of some lady attempting it.
Although she isn't coming anywhere near the kazoo versions, of course.
