First listen of, HOWARD SHORE - Edge of Darkness
Interesting brooding orchestral textures, and apt percussive work in some places. Certainly not the "return" some expect though.
Actually, NONE of us were expecting this because John Corigliano's score should still be in the picture!

I still remember the day I got the complete and could listen to cues like "Password", "Outside Line", "Family", the film version of "Chase" and all the cues from the ending of the film. Essential!

Interesting, the complete form is all I can take of it! The official album misses most of the ethnic stuff, which are always a highlight.
Indeed.
The complete score IS the best version of the score. There may be about 10 minutes of music that i wouldn't care for, but dammit(!), that's still leave me with over 100 minutes of awesome. Can't beat that.

NP : BROKEN ARROW - Hans Zimmer
I thought I'd give this a final listen before I decide to throw it away or not!? ( it's already becoming a chore)
p.s. Is it Duane Eddy playing the guitar on this? It sure sounds like him.On Friday I ate a lot of dust and appeared orange near the end of the day ~ Bregt -

Dad - James Horner
I love this lyrical, melodic, easy-listening side of Horner. A very relaxing album, and one which duration is exactly the right one at about 40 minutes. -

Agree. I much prefer the oficial album, specially the suite in "Sarajevo" track.
Anyway, I prefer listen the "chase" in the 2 tracks from the complete instead the suite of the official realease, because it has some electronics moments that I really love.
Peacemaker is Zimmer most "complex" writting for an action movie.
PS: the last 3 minutes of "peacemaker" track from the Album is one of the purest Zimmer moments, ever. -

Average at best, the best moments are the softer tracks, nuff saidwaaaaaahhhhhhhh!!! Where's my nut? arrrghhhhhhh -

About Broken Arrow, it is my second favourite Zimmer action score, just below Crimson Tide. And The Peacemaker is very enjoyable too (the regular album).
Give me early pulse-pounding Zimmers over his recent output anyday.
Though AWE is big fun."considering I've seen an enormous debate here about The Amazing Spider-Man and the ones who love it, and the ones who hate it, I feel myself obliged to say: TASTE DIFFERS, DEAL WITH IT" - Thomas G. -

NP: Regarding Henry - Hans Zimmer
One of my all time favorite relaxing Zimmer score. Got a used copy of this album when it went OOP and I was so happy. Love the theme and Bobby McFerrin's vocal stylings and synthesizer work and everything else in between. -

The Missing James Horner
To those who enjoy Horner's music, but don't enjoy this album, then I heartily suggest a playlist similar, if not the same, to this:
1. New Mexico, 1885
3. Dawn To Dusk; The Riderless Horse
5. The Search Begins
7. The Rujo's Storm / A Loss of Innocence
11. Kayitah's Death / The Soaring Hawk
12. Rescue and Breakout
13. Profound Loss
14. An Insurmountable Hurdle
15. The Long Ride Home
That comes to a healthier 49 minutes. Excellent stuff. -

No only that. Peacemaker was the end of a era.
An era when Zimmer composed, arranged and wrotte in a narrative way his projects. When the "additional composers" was perfectly defined. When the collaborative process was less prominent and more specific. Gladiator success broke all this. -

NP: League of Extraordinary Gentlemen - Trevor Jones
I liked the movie, however flawed it was. The music was pitch perfect though the album could use much more dynamic action music to balance out the dark underscore. -

I once did a 30 minute suite of this album, so that it played as a reasonably consistent single track. It's in a crappy low-res mp3 form, but I could upload it to see if it did the job?
NP: Le Premier Cri (Armand Amar)
Gee, if ever there was a sentimental film, it would have to be this one. Nice music though.A butterfly thinks therefore I am -
