Ok, it seems 21st and 22nd are the ones, with the possibility of the 20th. Nice! Which is the closest airport to Ghent?

Brussels National Airport (BRU) is the most central (45 minutes by train to Ghent). Then there are some Ryanair destinations (Charleroi/Brussels South and Ostend). I have no experience on how easy it is to navigate from Charleroi or Ostend to Ghent. Thor, can you help with the latter?

I think Vueling flys from Barcelona to BRU quite often for reasonable prices, and also Iberia, when booking ahead does a fair job.

If you all are planning to come to Ghent, I will take a day off on Friday and Monday. smile

I take a day off on the friday as well, have to see about monday though

either way, as Thor and Bob know, I have 2 extra places available. It isn't much, a couch that can be transformed to a bed to sleep in, but if you fancy that it means you don't have to pay for a hotel, and can sleep with me for free. I live practically 15 min from the place where the WSA will be held. If I'm not mistaken Bregt will be sleeping at my place as well?

So, to those who plan to come. Let me know who's up for another sleeping festivity in my crib? I have 2 places, more if they decide to sleep on the floor.

    Bregt, Bob, Thor? Anyone else?

2011 will be a great year for MT meetings! I hope some of the UK'ers come this way as well, and I think Martijn would love to meet some Spaniards too.

I might take you up on the offer for ONE night only, like last time (from Friday to Saturday). But again, I have to check some things before I can give final "Go!" for this trip.

I'm trying to argue with my magazine whether or not they can cover an amount that will at least cover SOME of the hotel costs. However, they wanted to know if it was possible for me to get press accreditation and maybe even a brief interview with Zimmer. Does anyone have any experience with this? If I pay for accrediation, does that mean that I don't have to pay for WSA in addition?

Pay for press accreditation? If you get an accreditation that means you get to the WSA for free and, since you're press, you get to interview (a selection of) the composers (depends on which composer is available, naturally; Zimmer might prove difficult). Paying for a press accreditation is a weird concept around here: you "pay" with the public attention of the festival you create by writing about it. So by all means, get it!

EDIT: Never mind, I just saw that unless you got an official press card (which makes it free), you need to pay for an accreditation for €40,-. This does give you a free pass for all the events, though, so no additional cost for the WSA. You do need to send "proof" afterwards that you did give it attention in the media.

Yeah, I saw that. We don't operate with physical press cards in montages.no, but I asked the press agency if the profil page can work as the same. Let's see if they actually answer this time, unlike Ubeda.

Yes, if it is as Bregt says, and I won't hear back from the press agency untill just a couple of weeks before, that's a too big risk. Plus, it's likely that I will pay 40 Euros anyway, so I'll just save 7 Euros on it.

So just go ahead and buy one for me, like you did last time.

Cool. If you could just give me a heads-up just before you go to buy (send me a PM here, for example)....just in case a mail has been received from the press agency in the meantime. Thanks!!

Also, I've tried to narrow it down to these hotels. Which do you recommend? (some have very few rooms left, so I'll have to be quick):

    Place 2 stay -- Penitentenstraat 33 -- 260 Euro
    Cathedral -- Sint Jacobsnieuwstraat 87 -- 210 Euro
    Aparthotel Castelnou -- Kasteellaan 51 -- 231 Euro
    Ghent River Hotel -- Waaistraat 5 -- 278 Euro
    Hotel de Flandre -- Poel 1-2 -- 278 Euro

I wanted to live closer to the city centre this time, and not closer to the railway station.

honestly, they all look fine. Aparthotel is actually not that far from me (though further away and not closer from Kuipke) and looks really modern and nice, while Place 2 stay you have an actual studio shocked

Cathedral seems to be a small place (only 5 rooms), but perhaps all the more cozier too.

I guess it's up to you how much money you want to spend on it. Looking at the pictures I would take them all smile

OK, airplane and hotel Cathedral ordered. Neither are refundable or open to change, so let's hope my health improves a bit by October.

I still hope for accreditation, pr. a possible Zimmer interview, for example. Or Goldenthal.

He, he....remember last year when I just walked past the security (probably because of my arrogant attitude and the silver blazer) and into the reception after the concert? While all of you were stopped?

I doubt I'll be able to do that again this year.

I think I have the accreditation thing sorted out, so no need to buy a ticket for me, Thomas (in case you didn't read the PM I sent you). It's a bit of a risk in case they screw things up once I arrive, but I'll take it. Need to save money where I can.
