I am making this unsticky. You can turn it back when something's being offered. We have enough sticky topics.

I will briefly return from my boycott of the forum to say thank you. Hopefully the other sticky thread which has absolutely no reason at all to be a sticky thread will also be unstickied so I can make a permanent return.

I tend to agree with Martijn on this one. If this is such a big deal that a member chooses to ban himself from posting then I really don't understand and perhaps he should either take over as the webmaster from Bregt which will allow him to do whatever he wishes or just not post.

    Clearing house!
There'll be more, but for starters:

    1) CASABLANCA: Classic Film Scores For Humphrey Bogart - Charles Gerhardt conducting the NPO
Excellent compilation with mainly Steiner-composed scores. Great recreation by Gerhardt and Korngold!

    2) Casino Royale - Burt Bacharach
The original Varese Sarabande release of Bacharach's score for the 1966 troubled but highly entertaining film. Fantastic poppy sixties secret agent soundtrack!

    3) Casino Royale - Burt Bacharach
Again? Yeah, but this is another release with both the film score AND the album. Rerelease by Krizerland, which has since sold out.

    4) The Pleasure Of His Company - Alfred Newman
Beautiful and upbeat Newman score, with -as is his trademark- a fantastic main theme (and some very good jazz pieces!).
So why am I getting rid of this one? Because I'm an idiot: I accidentally ordered it twice: from Kritzerland directly and again -while it was still in transit (and I had forgotten all about it) from BSX. sad
So: brand new. Still unwrapped, in fact.

Rules as always: no strings attached, no cost incurred.
I'll leave this up for a while. PM me if you're interested. If there are more applicants for one CD fate will decided the lucky winner.

(Note that as they're surplus to requirement and any alternative will actually cost me money without the added benefit of making my fellow enthusiasts happy, it'll be the bin for those CDs that fail to find a new owner!)

I think you mean Steiner not Korngold is a wonderful one in the Gerhardt/National Philharmonic series. I highly recommend if you don't have it.

He's talking about the album producer George Korngold, not his father Erich Wolfgang.

I can say this score is loads of fun too. Very catchy, very retro. Absolutely worth to get this. It was probably one of my first cd (the Varese one), a very random buy, and I don't know why I got this one. Is it worth getting the double then?

Anyone, for whom who has not has it, haste yourself and send that PM to Martijn!

I would normally jump all over Martijn's generous offer, but I have a VERY strict rule right now that I'm not going to increase my physical collection unless it's my completist composers. I'm striving all I can to REDUCE it!

  5. I can't believe I was the only one of two people who asked for the Newman.

I can make a post for you, if you are not an FSM member, offering those others for free and see if anybody bites. Want me to?
