So why would Horace go out in the jungle and built a cabin for his wife? Was it for protection? For leisure? And when did the cabin assume magical powers? Was it after Jacob moved in!?

Exactly. That´s in the top 5 of my "I wanna know" list.

I used to read spoilers but I find that after avoiding them, shows like Smallville, Supernatural and Lost have become better! smile

As for the next episode, you kinda already gave away a spoiler, although it was crystal-clear it's about Daniel since: a) the title is "The Variable" and b) he showed up at the very end of the last one.

My guess (only GUESS, no spoilers!):

1. We see that after Charlotte's death he went nuts with depression.
2. He scared little Charlotte off by telling her not to come back to the island since she would die.
3. He went off the island as to not be around her.
4. He built the Lamp Post.
5. He will be a bit concerned about the implications when he finds out that Miles and baby Miles co-exist on the island.
6. He will possibly prepare the ground for his mother and his own future experiments.
7. Desmond may or may not have something to do with the story.
8. He might have figured out how to return the people to their normal time - especially now that the O4 are back.
9. The Variable might refer to a person in his life (like Charlotte) or to someone else (like someone from the Losties - Locke? Sun?) who will be holding the key to bringing them back to their time.
10. Charles Widmore might be his uncle or something (since Charles and Ellie seemed to be some sort of leader of the Others), which would make Daniel Penny's cousin.

And for those who have seen the trailer:
A tiny war breaks out, perhaps a civil one between Dharma or perhaps between Dharma and the Others. And since this is the 100th episode, maybe something big will happen? Like someone dying?
The only thing variable is the quality of this season! Even more confusing than The Constant on first viewing, this episode brought up limitless plotholes, was full of TERRIBLE acting, stupid twists and cliched time travel quotes a pleanty!

Even I don't know what the hell is going on now, but if Dan manages to change the past, then why would the whole Oceanic 815 scenario even exist again in the future? It's already happened and everyone knows it happened so no matter what happens now why would it happen again?

And wonderful....Dan and Penny are brother and sister. rolleyes

Pretty much agree with you, here. Dissapointing episode, from a very poor season.

for the first time seems like if the writters doesn't know where they want to go.

All seems disjointed, confusing and repetitive.

The fact a lot of episodes are not by Cuse, Lindeldof and Bender it's one of the reasons.

The Darlton episodes have been just as bad to be honest. They clearly know where they're going, it's just completely different from before - and it sucks.

I'm honestly waiting for Aaron to turn out to be Claire from the past... rolleyes

Well, we all knew it since episode one of this season: when you start messing around with time travel, you have two options: 1- enter the game and enjoy it as absurd and ilogical it may be or 2- go watch "24".

I chose both btw.

Seriously, I agree with Anthony and Jordi. Confusing and more confusing. Why Faraday thought he could change the past? Why did his own mother sent him back knowing she´d kill him? We still don´t know what is Ben´s purpose in everything.... They keep doing the same over and over again: they answer one question and open a hundred new doors.

They didn´t even reach 9 million viewers in this episode (the 100 th of the show): Viewers: 8.81 million

I'm still not quite ready to comment on this episode, but I will anyway!

Reasons why I liked it:

- It was Daniel-centric. That guy is a genius. Clever, kind. Too bad he was tormented in his life by fate, his illness and his mother!
- It involved a lot of characters (Daniel, Eloise, Charles, Penny, Richard) that we don't see in every episode. So far, Eloise would pop up every now and then and act as a mysterious woman. Now, her story is unfolding as well and I certainly enjoy watching these characters now, instead of Kate, Jack and Sawyer taking meaningless trips in the jungle, hoping to get caught in the net.
- Surprises and twists: Charles turning out to be Daniel's father.
- Desmond, Penny and Charlie are still fine.
- Jack is coming in terms with the fact that weird things are happening!
- Jack and Kate follow Daniel, instead of doing what THEY think is right. Finally, they decided to follow someone who is clearly better than them.
- Continuity: Little Charlotte saying "I'm not supposed to eat chocolate before dinner", which were Charlotte's dying words.
- "I can make time" said by young Daniel. Brilliant irony!

Reasons why I hated it:
- Daniel died.
- The way Daniel died.
- The fact that Eloise knew, yet still let Daniel die by her own hands.
- How Jack and Kate have become so careless in their actions.
- How Juliet's look is still as pathetic as ever.
- Daniel died (I know I already said that, but the most clever man on the show just died by the hand of his own mother.)
- Eloise's character: She appears a lot tougher in this episode. And why on earth would she lead Daniel into this sort of lifestyle, if she knew that all would happen to him was to be killed by her own self?

Also, something that got me confused: Eloise apologised to Penny since Desmond was in the hospital because of Daniel. I assume she was referring to the fact that Daniel knocked on the hatch's door, told Desmond to go find Eloise, which led Desmond and Penny to re-surface and thus made it possible for Ben to find them. But why would she not know what's going to happen afterwards? Was she just referring to Desmond's life? Or could that incident have affected a lot more?

And also: Why didn't Widmore go with his team on the island? He spent his entire life looking for it. Why did he not rush back to the island as soon as he found out where it was? Btw, we still don't know how he found it, right? Could he possibly be using the Lamp Post?
