NP : THE BOURNE ULTIMATUM - John Powell

I love the Bourne scores, this is my second favourite, just behind Supremacy.

Agreed. It's a stupendously beautiful score.

  1. I'm watching a news piece on Veteran's Day and they're playing "Hymn to the Fallen" from Williams' Saving Private Ryan.

I'm really going back in time now. Listening to an album that has been a favourite for a long time. It has had many many many plays in those days...

Hearing it again now after so long is kind of emotional too. I got it from our dear friend Martin Provost by the way, he thought it would be something I like and it was bullseye. (If that's the expression in English?)

I miss Martin being around here, he does pop by from time to time but never enough.

I have his Asian, African compilations, really good they are too.

Was just playing The blue spirit from The last airbender and Marital sabotage from Sherlock Holmes simultaneously by accident. Thought it was weird how many elements of Sherlock Holmes was in The last airbender and I started pondering whether James Newton Howard had been inspired by the Sherlock Holmes score. Thought the track sounded rather busy as well, until I realized the mistake. And yes, I'm an idiot.

  4. FINAL FANTASY XIII - MASASHI HAMAUZU

I don't think too many people know this even exists, but they should. I've shortened it from 4 discs to 2 because there is just a ton of filler material, and in this state it blows my mind with its uplifting melodies and energetic orchestrations. This has quickly become one of my favourite FF game scores, because of its highly positive vibe, infectious melodies and overall loveliness. Just listen to this killer track.
"considering I've seen an enormous debate here about The Amazing Spider-Man and the ones who love it, and the ones who hate it, I feel myself obliged to say: TASTE DIFFERS, DEAL WITH IT" - Thomas G.
  5. Heard and saw this guy in concert in Krakow this year. His material was pretty great (fully orchestral arrangements from all Final Fantasy games, one of the best concerts this festival, along with Hisaishi's)

Tell me when you watch the movie !
Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders.
  6. I'm listening to TINTIN as well! I've enjoyed it more with each listen.

Earlier today I've played several albums from this year for the first time:

    WATER FOR ELEPHANTS - JNH
The first 8 tracks of this were really quite nice and got my hopes up. From there it kind of fizzled.

KUNG FU PANDA 2 - Zimmer and Powell (though more Powell I suspect)
What fun! It took me a few tracks to get into it, but this is one of my favorite scores of the year so far. Excellent action material - very exciting stuff!

    CAMELOT - Dannas
It sounded a little like some of the elven music from LOTR, with a few tracks of Indian music thrown in. It was pretty okay, but really didn't grab me.
