He's a LOT better than he used to be, D. Plus he's a pretty damn good director. So I have some hope he'll be good.... Plus, he certainly has the right jawline and chin for it.

He's only good behind the camera and he's proven it numerous times, in front, he doesn't convince me at all.

Hans Zimmer and The Sinister Six eh? wink

I'm looking forward to hearing this and hope it's not massively disappointing like Man of Steel.

Remember the discussion in the now playing topic (here http://www.maintitles.net/forum/discuss … vi/#Item_5) today about Amazing Spiderman 2 most possibly being a continuation of this man of steel / 300:2 / captain america: winter soldier - sound? Well here are the samples:

I listened to them earlier. Sounds okay to me but I'll obviously have to hear the whole thing.

The first 4-5 cues (before the "i am spiderman" leitmotif) reminded me of this direction (man of steel, 300:2, captain america:2 a lot), i don't have a problem with it. The leitmotif is very fun, but after that it seems there's a lot of underscore (as much as you can judge from very short samples) up to "Still Crazy" again. A lot of electronica and dubstep elements and also Vangelis in several cues (notably "you're that spider guy").

David Lynch and Hans Zimmer on the same event? Now THAT's something I would have loved to attend.

So the three finalists have been selected:

Are you doing a capsule review version? A good example of how useful a rating system can be.

    Ha, ha...now that's a first!

Still, a fascinating approach. I love Nolan -- both as a filmmaker and for doings unlike anyone else.

  4. That's a stupid fucking idea because it means the score won't be matched to the concept at all. It'll just be a bunch of random Zimmer suites cut and pasted all over the film by Lorne Balfe and co...hang on, that's no different to the last crop of Nolan scores.

I'm guessing it's just a starting point for the creative process, Edmund; it's not the final draft.
    I am extremely serious.
  5. Even so, I'm not sure how that makes sense. How can you write music to a concept if you barely even know what that concept is?

Well, we don't know what Nolan wrote in his text. Maybe he was just after a sentiment based on those descriptions as a starting point.

Maybe Zimmer's music will dictate how Nolan edits or shoots some of the movie.

I'm hoping that one day a director asks a composer to write a complete score first and then film the movie based on that score.

Who knows how the Strausses came up with the temp tracks for 2001 - A Space Odyssey?

Kubrick kind of reminds me of both Doctors Who and Emmett Brown.

That said, I´m pretty sure I´ve already heard about directors cutting a scene to a finished piece of score, which is the best we can hope to get, I suppose.

    Unless you count Fantasia. wink
