    Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves - Michael Kamen

    Wonderful. Great thematic depth, action/adventure/excitement/romance. And he wrote it in a few days.

    Tonight I will sup with my father in Notting-HAM.

    One of my alltime favourites. The sudden fade-outs suck, however.

    NP: MAMA DRACULA (Roy Budd)

    Part traditional and baroque, part jazzy. I dig it (as I do must Budd)!

    Good to see someone playing some Roy Budd, what a very fine composer he was ( also composing one of the most iconic themes ever written in GET CARTER ) and snatched from us at the appallingly young age of 49.

    An exceptionally hot pianist too!!

    Unless it's Kate Upton playing the piano. Can she play piano? Doesn't matter really, she could be the worlds worst pianist and she's still a winner at the piano.

    I would wine and dine the shit out of her, and then pay for her taxi home and respect her boundaries like a PLAYA. That's how I roll.

  2. I have no idea who Kate Upton is - except that she's not a pianist (apparently).

    Black Beauty - Danny Elfman

    Very repetitive but still more than bearable simply because it's one of the greatest themes Elfman's ever composed and the diverse range of variations he puts it through are pretty special.

    I think it's a lovely score, right up there with Sommersby.

    Second listening, and I'm actually enjoying this a lot more now. It's still no masterpiece, but it has plenty of excellent tracks. I don't know what all the haters are smoking.

    I thought the film was pants, but there are definite highlights in the score -- even if INCEPTION is all over it. Then again, I seem to dig almost everything Jablonsky did since he stepped out of those horror thingies.

    I'm sure that adds to it, but when I first listened to it I came in unbiased by popular opinion as it had yet to be formed. I found it mind numbingly boring, and given the film it was written for, I have come to hate it for what I think are legitimate reasons.

  6. I got a 4 CD set by Silva Screen today containing scores by John Barry:

    * The Lion in Winter / Mary, Queen of Scots
    * Robin and Marian
    * The Last Valley
    * Walkabout / Zulu

    All Prague/Raine/Crouch End ... the usual suspects.

    So, Timmer, lo and behold:

    NP: The Last Valley And it's really great!

    beer

    Are you familiar with Walkabout? That's a brilliant score to a very good film.

    I'm not so keen on the Zulu recording, it seriously lacks the punch of Barry's original recording.

    You're in for some treats. Robin and Marian has one of the most gorgeous love themes ever though the album can get a bit repetitive.

    NP : THE FLY - Howard Shore

    Awesome score. Been too long since I last listened to this.
