PEARL HARBOUR is one of the most clichéed, overblown, saccharine, bloated pieces of music I've ever heard from Zimmer's pen. At least in the movie. I'm not sure how it holds up on CD.
<-- not on the score itselfLove Maintitles. It's full of Wanders. -

Well, i'm not agree with the commentay of Thor, but I can use the same words for every single score from James Hormer. I will do a copy and paste -

I think the love theme, or whatever the hell it is, is actually a wonderful piece of music. Quite a nice piece to play on the piano.
Saccharine? Sure. But it's so lovely I don't really care. -

That's true. It's an easy piece to play but very lovely to listen to. -

Better than in the film, but I can't imagine a circumstance where I'd want to listen to it again. -

Oh, I quite like that main theme too (even though the orchestration is absolutely horrific - the melody may sound like Barry, but the orchestration sounds like the work of a child).
The best thing on the album is the Faith Hill song! -

I think Pearl Harbor is the only case in Zimmer's career post The Thin Red Line, where the orchestrations are downright bad. I blame it on the time though.http://www.filmmusic.pl - Polish Film Music Review Website -

It seems to be a very interesting documentary but I couldn't pick up the words they're saying (except one line "I'm touching these buttons")Labels are for cans, not people. - Anthony Rapp -

Well, Pearl Harbor is probably my favourite Zimmer album. I just wish he would compose such heartfelt, romantic cues more often. -

It's not bad, it's just unfinished and bland. it's Composed fast and orchestrated too simple (I mean in the way that even don't make the necessary noise) -

I for one really like the Pearl Harbor score. Especially the love theme and the action music in "War". Sounds very good to me. -

That's awesome. That clip presented a scenario that was solved with all the noted collaborators working together. The piano theme is nice, and the progression of the melody is so fluid as to be inevitable. Too bad the score hasn't been released yet. -

I would say that it's a half and half thing. The crappy action stuff (like the Doolittle Raid material) sounds like the Rabin temp. The good stuff sounds bad because they were composed to accommodate the loud action scenes. I do love the rejected(?) Air Battle cue and it's synth-lite, mostly orchestra, approach. -

I watched the movie some time ago and there wasn´t much music in it. Not worthy of a release IMO.Anything with an orchestra or with a choir....at some point will reach you -

For fellow PoTC score fans - Magic Box, a group writing music especially for trailers, have put up some new never-before-released tracks from Dead Man's Chest and At World's End at their official site, for which they did some additional music/arranging. Especially check out the new Maelstrom battle track from AWE!
Also check out "Jar Of Dirt" from DMC, a very good action track. -

For AWE, I remember vaguely that they did have "additional music by" in the liner notes, but most of the stuff they wrote (the Maelstrom stuff) didn't make it onto the album though, with exception of the Davey Jones vs Jack Sparrow cue and the "Victory" cue.
I had some idea that they probably did the Wheel of Fortune stuff on the DMC movie since it was one of those time when you notice their names in the liner note and the track was a recapitulation of the action stuff from the first movie. "Jar of Dirt" is a really good track. One day...
