Yeah, I was amazed Demetris would pull out a Debney score after defending Tyler with being slightly anti-Debney.

A very sweet, melodic and subtle little score with a gorgeous main theme. I think i haven't heard this for years!
You have, if you've listened to the three of four scores Debney shamelessly copies from the temp-track! I might need to strike the comment I just made about Brian Tyler in his thread.
Was going to say the same thing... can someone say Castaway! and a pile of other Horner, Thomas and Randy Newman scores.

NP: I Capture The Castle - Dario Marianelli
I'm staying well clear of the Alien vs. Predator: Requiem discussions - well, at least until I've heard it for myself! In the meantime I'm listening to a Marianelli score that I've had for a while but haven't really listened to much. It's nice and light and not too controversial. The views expressed in this post are entirely my own and do not reflect the opinions of maintitles.net, or for that matter, anyone else. http://www.racksandtags.com/falkirkbairn -

Man, this is f*cked up. Just because i can recognize several patterns in one's music that i don't like, that doesn't mean i'll blindly go against or pro each and every single note he writeS, now does it?
I hated the fact that everybody holds their flags up for LAIR while simultaneously ditching others' works that essentially do the same via other routes but there's also stuff like PASSION OF THE CHRIST or DRAGONFLY which rank amidst my all-time top 50 scores and i absolutely adore them; i am not f*cking deaf, i wholly appreciate Debney's musicianship and work even if i don't blindly adore or hate everything that he produces. If there's something i like - "Dreamer" for instance, then i'll say it, if not, i'll say that too, even louder. That's the way i operate and if i even loose that i'll just walk off the forums, reviews, promoting and stuff.Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders. -

Well, to be honest, i never payed THAT much attention to the CHUMSCRUBBER, it has always functioned as a background listen for me but now that you mentioned it, i'll prob check it out soon! Thanks.

Lair! Yeah! Right! I almost forgot about that majestic work! By all means let's talk about Lair some more! I have several dozen points on that magnifcent, fantastic work I'd love to revisit!
And I think you and I haven't butted heads over that one for well over five minutes now, so I'm getting withdrawal symptoms!

I do like CHUMSCRUBBER a lot though. Influence or not, that's very much a Horner thing, and it certainly was a very fresh sound for him to be playing with.

Well...it's interesting. Some addictive stuff. But definetly overrated.
The problem is some composers uses always the same secondary motifs, and SIlvetri is one of them (Arnold another one).
Am I the only one who almost want start to sing Betieljuice (or whatever is spelled it) with this Predator synthetic percusion? -

NP Alien Vs Predator - Requiem (Brian Tyler)
Wow, what´s all the discussion about?! This is great! Pure loud, big and non stop action music, for a movie that will be an action set piece after another. Who needs big themes and originality when all you need is kick ass and compose the boldest score of the year?
The cheapest / easiest / fastest way to approach this score was to compose the typical synth based score only to fill the gaps and follow the action; but no, Tyler was given a gift and he has had a great time (I´m assuming that listening the music an for what he said in an interview) writing this score. We should be happy he didn´t took the easy way. Playing it loooooud!
And as for Tyler´s own voice, well, it´s everywhere in AVP2. And all the homages to the former composers are nice and not simply a copy/paste. Man I´m enjoying the score and I will for sure enjoy the movie.
THANK YOU GODDAMIT 'CAUSE I WAS REALLY STARTING TO GET MAD HERE!!!!!!!
(Pawel: but really i think you're missing the point here )
Well..I share Marselus thoughts. I never said AVP-R was bad. I just tried to put your foots on earth again.
I enjoyed this score from the first time ( like I posted), But I have heard this kind of stuff to often in Tyler's short career, and im a little bit worried from a guy who really kicked my ass with Darkness falls.
Sure it's pretty damn cool, and Tyler having fun! (and it can be very , very improved with a cronological track order! )
PS: I saw the trailer and i happens in a village....I thought the climax of the movie will be more interesting! At least the first movie was in the Artic! -

NP: Brother - Joe Hisaishi
One of my favorite scores of Hisaishi and I don't listen to it anywhere near enough. Beautiful, sad and haunting, all in great Hisaishi style. I really enjoy the cool laid back jazz style of much of this score and "I Love You... Aniki" is easily one of my top 50 cues. Simple sublime.
By the way, I would like to add my name to the list of people who thinks Tyler's AvP2 score is f*ucking fantastic! I listened to it last night at full volume! No other way to experience it if you ask me! -

Phew, posts unread: 710... I'm not going to read through all that!
I have been very busy so I missed a lot here on the new forum, but things are finally getting a bit back to normal again, so here I am, in the new house. Don't be surprised I'm listening to Transformers. This time I have to admit it's because most of my scores are in boxes so I don't know where they are! But I'm not complaining, not yet.

Definetely NOT overrated. Silvestri creates a sense of mistery and uncertainty with the percussion, some synth elements and the use of the strings. Not to talk about the action stuff. A great score for one of the greatest movies of the 80´s. One of those scores that fits the film with a perfection rarely seen.Anything with an orchestra or with a choir....at some point will reach you -

How we have talked a lot of times you are not familiar with Back to the future universe. But Silvestri copied secondaries motifs from there in Predator, so sometimes is a little bit annoying.
The score is overrated (but not so much like the stupid thing to consider abyss a masterpiece just for one track) and the movie is overrated in the same way. Both are good and cool, but far from masterpieces who some people tries to see.
Some really Good stuff In Predator, for sure, and highly effective....But 74 minuts is too much.

And you´re the one always talking about composers own voice? You shouldn´t be complaining then, should you? Moreover, I think "Predator" is more than those references to other Silvestri´s scores. The action stuff is amazing, and as you demanded in another thread (regarding AVP2), in "Predator" there is a sense of story, an evolution and a conclusion. What else do you want?Anything with an orchestra or with a choir....at some point will reach you -

Thanks for the welcome back, Bob. And Demetris, I missed you all too. When I say things are getting back to normal that includes hanging around here as well.
The move went very well, things are not finished at all yet, but it's supposed to be like that of course. It takes time. The place feels quite like home already so that's nice. I'm surprised too how fast one forgets about the old place. It seems much longer now that we moved out and I do not miss my old home. The same goes for the forum too by the way! Although I have to admit I miss the warm colours a bit.
Wow, it is weird. While my old home had a lot of wood and a red wall and other scorereviews colours, this new home is very light and bright and much more modern and white, like maintitles, creepy!!
