NP : JAWS 2 - John Williams
I still love this a lot more than the original ( not the film though which is utter pants!), masterful scoring from the great master

NP: Jane Eyre - John Williams
An early master work by the Maestro. What a theme... and one that would return and be part of Williams' Love Theme from Attack of the Clones.... those descending piano/woodwind notes. And what a Reunion cue. This is one that I don't visit to often but now I think I should.

You DEFINITELY SHOULD!
Outstanding score and one of my very personal favourites.
Besides that beautiful main theme, Restoration is the other glorious stand out cue, would have done Vaughan Williams proud! On Friday I ate a lot of dust and appeared orange near the end of the day ~ Bregt -

We can certainly agree on this one! A gem that doesn't get enough play from me either.
NP: The Legend of Zorro - James Horner
Gotta love it!
Not sure which one I like more -- this or the original. Both are two of my favorites from Horner. -

"Sirens" (rejected)
By: Geoffrey Burgon
Traditional orchestra score; no elexctronics. Strings, french horns (it sounds like), woodwinds, and other regular intruments.
It's a plesant score, but nothing special, and it's just all over ther place with no center or theme that I can recognize.
Good orchestrations. Have no idea who did them.
Also has tracks from "Dogs of War", "Life of Brian", "Turtle Diary", and "Labyrinth".'no passion nor excitement here, despite all the notes and musicians' ~ Falkirkbairn -

NP: The Return (Marianelli)
A bit too contemplative for my tastes, it seems to wander around with little place to go, but is listenable and melodic. It has a bit of JNH's Signs and The Sixth Sense in terms of orchestration, but isn't quite as interesting. Seeing as I'm one of the rare few who enjoyed the film, I do like the "End Titles" cue (which curiously doesn't show up on the album).'no passion nor excitement here, despite all the notes and musicians' ~ Falkirkbairn -

I am still curious as to why you locked the old NP: Part XXII thread. This thread's way too long and I was getting really sick of the constant AVP 2 and Debney arguments, it seemed reasonable for justin to start a new thread. Anyway...
NP: Jurassic Park (Williams)
A modern classic from the maestro himself. The Lost World has its moments, but this one is better structured and paced -- and oh, that main theme! I love it.http://unsungfilmscores.blogspot.com/ -- My film/TV/game score review blog -

I really like this score from Lorenc. Not an "in our face" score, but stylish (from what I remember).
NP: Blade Runner - Vangelis
I don't have time to listen to all of this tonight but I am looking forward to hearing this "event". Just like the movie, I haven't had the "official" release of this before (nor the "orchestral" disc that was released), though I did have a 2-CD bootleg that I just couldn't get into. What I have now it a 3-CD "trilogy" celebrating the 25th Anniversary of the movie.
CD1 is a straight re-release of the original 1994 CD release - with all the dialogue and SFX included. But there's enough non-dialogue portions in a lot of the tracks that will benefit from a bit of editing. CD2 is, apparently music only and runs to ~45 minutes. I've listened to a few soundbites from the new CD3 and there is (again) dialogue included, but it may be better integrated with the music. We'll see!The views expressed in this post are entirely my own and do not reflect the opinions of maintitles.net, or for that matter, anyone else. http://www.racksandtags.com/falkirkbairn -

There's no such thing as a long thread with the kick-ass search by posts system Bregt got us here. As for the AVPR discussions, they're over so you're free to enjoyLove Maintitles. It's full of Wanders. -

I'm on my second listen of CD2 (Blade Runner) and it's okay. It's very much a soundscape-styled CD - which a lot of Blade Runner is anyway. Does it offer anything new? "One Alone" is a very beautiful track but I'm not that familiar with the original release to say one way or another. Maybe in a day or two I'll be able to provide a better opinion. The views expressed in this post are entirely my own and do not reflect the opinions of maintitles.net, or for that matter, anyone else. http://www.racksandtags.com/falkirkbairn -

NP: George and the Dragon (Waltzing)
I really enjoy this score, very much like Eragon in terms of scope and orchestration but in terms of writing it's much stronger than Doyle's effort. I really don't like "Celtic Monk" and "It Will Always Be You", though. I can't get enough of "Intro", "Coming Home", "Battle of the Pics", "Heroes", "Battle and Birth" and "Last Battle". A typical fantasy score but a well-done and enjoyable effort.http://unsungfilmscores.blogspot.com/ -- My film/TV/game score review blog -

AVPR - Tyler
I've read the criticisms. I held my judgement till I finally heard it for myself.
My feelings?
Oh my god! I love it! Sure Tyler tips his hat to Horner, Goldsmith & Goldenthal. That's part of the fun and it's part of the Alien / Predator universe! And he's done it so well.
Many parts of this pounding score brought a smile to my face!
It's definately one of the best scores of 07 for me.
Well done Mr. Tyler.
Now bring on Rambo 4! -

Goooooooooooood Morning!!!!!!
I was playing: Alien (intrada Realease)
One of those scores that I appreciate, but I can't enjoy.
I really tried hard, really. But I find the main theme.....Well, I will not say why i don't like this score, because im sure there are too many fans of this score out there.
Anyway...Goldsmith has created a very disctintive sound for the eight passenger. And I really like it. BUt I prefer listen in in Horner's score because he added a more modern and militaristic action music.
Is Goldenthal score the only Alien score without the Goldsmith's sound???
NP:Femme Fatale (Sakamoto)
The "Bolerish" track aside, wich is one of the most irritating music-Sequences I ever seen. this scores is Gorgeous!!! -
