I'm curious to know why sometimes when I come back to this site I have to put in my log-in details. It doesn't happen often but I am wondering whether it is due to some sort of site update or if it is to do with my browser?
(I retain passwords so I don't usually need to log in).The views expressed in this post are entirely my own and do not reflect the opinions of maintitles.net, or for that matter, anyone else. http://www.racksandtags.com/falkirkbairn -

Do you use ccleaner?Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders. -
- CommentTimeJun 27th 2011
Yes I do. But I have configured it so that it does not wipe my saved log-in details in my browsers.
This occurrence seems to happen every so often and doesn't seem to be associated with anything I do. It seems to happen both when using my laptop and my phone - but not at the same time.
Probably just "one of those things".The views expressed in this post are entirely my own and do not reflect the opinions of maintitles.net, or for that matter, anyone else. http://www.racksandtags.com/falkirkbairn -

Not very often. So infrequently that I couldn't put a number on the frequency. But I will anyway: no more than 1-2 times a month. So, it's scientifically proven then. If you still use Microsoft's Internet Explorer, you're retarded.

So I had to give up Firefox too. I accidentally got a toolbar that wouldn't be removed.
So now I'm using Google Chrome. Hopefully, I'll stick to that for a while.I am extremely serious. -

That doesn't solve your problem though. What toolbar did you install (because surely, it didn't come there by itself. )? It's better to clean up those things well, then ignore.

One that came with an update of Vuze. I couldn't get it removed, even after uninstalling Vuze altogether and the "remote toolbar" I had accidentally installed upon the update.I am extremely serious. -

Well, I just did the switch from Firefox to Chrome and thank Christ I did! Wow! I'll never use Firefox again. The speed is unreal!

I have both installed for web site testing but it's obvious Chrome is the superior browser these days both in terms of speed and functionality. I'd probably put Safari second. -

Chrome is my browser of choice now. But, for some reason I do use Opera for visiting some sites: Amazon, Facebook, last.fm, etc.
Opera Mobile is my preferred browser on my phone. The views expressed in this post are entirely my own and do not reflect the opinions of maintitles.net, or for that matter, anyone else. http://www.racksandtags.com/falkirkbairn -

When checking this forum on my Android phone I tend to use Opera Mobile as it seems to display this site better than the Android version of Chrome. I have gotten into the habit of having Opera Mobile set to "Off-road mode", a 'cloud-based compression technology' that's good for when the network is slow.
However, today I haven't been able to access this messageboard (or IFMCA's either) and get the following message instead:
"Forbidden
You don't have permission to access forum/discussions on this server
Apache/2.2.6 (Debian) Server at www.maintitles.net Port 80"
But when I switch off the "Off-road mode" and then refresh the page the browser works fine.
Obviously the answer is to switch off the compression mode but I was wondering what the issue is?The views expressed in this post are entirely my own and do not reflect the opinions of maintitles.net, or for that matter, anyone else. http://www.racksandtags.com/falkirkbairn -

I'm using Dolphin on my phone and have no problems accessing anything. It's a nice browser. In fact, I'm on it right now!
Firefox on pc, but tempted to try Chrome following the positive remarks here. Surprised Thor had to give up on Firefox because of a toolbar. they're usually fairly easy to remove.

I used Firefox mostly up until recently, when it started giving me problems...I'd click and click on the icon and it just wouldn't open - but if I checked the processes on the task manager there'd be dozens of Firefoxes lined up doing jack shit.
So I switched over to Chrome, which indeed a leaner and faster browser than any other. I keep a window of Firefox minimized whenever I can (it opens after a restart...sometimes...), so that I can make use of certain addons; DownloadHelper mostly, to, uh, get unreleased music from composer websites and YouTube such... -

I've just sent you a couple of screenshots via Gmail. I have 2 addresses for you, hopefully I have chosen the correct one!
The same error happens on the IFMCA forum too. BTW, there does not seem to be an app update that corresponds with the appearance of the error message. The views expressed in this post are entirely my own and do not reflect the opinions of maintitles.net, or for that matter, anyone else. http://www.racksandtags.com/falkirkbairn -

Intriguing. I have the same with Opera on Symbian.
EDIT: I do not have this compression thingy to switch on or off, so unfortunately I am unable to browse MT on my phone now.
Like Alan, this seems very recent. Only noticed it today.
There's been no updates on my phone or browser, so something MUST have been changed server-side.
Can you cehck with you provider? Seems like they've switched off some compression module (or something...I honestly have no clue. Apache. Utter black box to me.)'no passion nor excitement here, despite all the notes and musicians' ~ Falkirkbairn
