I haven't really tried WhatsApp, but social media and apps will have be to developped far more, into something more discussion-friendly, before I ever start using that seriously. For discussion, I mean. It's fine for short remarks and that. I don't use apps for these things either, I ALWAYS use my laptop, not my phone. So if the messageboard format goes, I go, simple as that.

JWFAN has loads of traffic, like FSM, but that's because it's been an established entity since the heyday of messageboards, and has a dedicated fanbase. So has MainTitles, but for some reason we didn't survive the same way. Like you, I'm unsure how a newly established, "old-school" messageboard would fare in this day and age, but I think it would fare better than where MainTitles is currently, at least. I would be up for the experiment, we have nothing to lose.

Sorry, this is off-topic. Would perhaps be better suited for this thread: http://www.maintitles.net/forum/discuss … e/#Item_19

I think when I have a bit of surplus energy, I'll have a chat with Bregt about all of this.

Sampled this yesterday, and was disappointed. Tessloff provided a better score for the Norwegian film NORWEGIAN DREAM last year (at least slightly).

While the two are very different in many ways, by now I do agree with you. But, sometimes it takes more time to appreciate something. Not really sure if 'sampling' is always the best way.
  1. I constantly battle with myself about the instant gratification of a score that has immediate appeal, or the score that MAY grow on me at some point.

My goals have changed over the years, and it's my wider curiosity that is what I love. Seeing if there are any little known titles that give me instant joy.

I have accepted that I may miss "slow burners".

I checked out that a couple of days ago. Pretty interesting; considered doing a mini review of it myself, but now that both you and Jon Broxton have covered it, it's been used. smile
