    Bregje is absolutely right: it's founded a German company and today still is.
    In fact, the brand name spells out the founder and his town: HAns RIegel, BOnn: HARIBO.

    The current head office is still in Germany and both managing directors are still Riegels.

    There are a great number of international offices (including Finland and Moscow), but there is no majority Scandinavian interest in the company.

    I think I found the Danish connection, but it's a spurious one at best:
    Based on business contacts between Riegel and the Hansen brothers, the owners of the Danish candy manufacturer Sukkervarenfabrikker Danmark, in the late 1920s, HARIBO's first joint venture abroad was set up in Denmark in 1935.

    This was however a small enterprise, and was disbanded (or at least minimized) at the start of World War II. It's never mentioned after that.

    Galaxy chocolate is better, I can't stand Haribo or any type of sweet/candy like that.

    I actually agree. smile Whatever Haribo stuff you eat, it always looks like something that's radio-active, and tastes like a moutful of industrial chemicals wrapped in sugary plastic.

    That's why I only buy chocolate and cookies for my kids. The amount of candy they get from others though... we have a huge box and more goes in than out. They don't even like it much...
    I throw away the most 'glowing' stuff from countries that cannot be identified from the package.

    Any Haribo candy found in Scandinavian countries these days hail from DENMARK, not Germany. It may have been established in Germany, but there's no Haribo connection to that country anymore, at least not up here.
