Men: Ten Reasons Why You Shouldn't Marry a Greek Woman

    1. One word - "Babaaaaa!" (accompanied by crying)
    2. She can't cook like your mother.
    3. Having your children and cleaning your house isn't fun for her...go figure!
    4. The incessant whining of her voice drives you crazy.
    5. She always has an opinion about everything.
    6. You can't have sex with her until she's married, but find out after that she's slept with your brother and cousin and uncle and friends.
    7. One more word - Nagging.
    8. Buying new living room furniture every six months isn't how you want to spend your money.
    9. She thinks "Greek Style" is how you cook green beans and chicken.
    10. She won't let you show her what "Greek Style" really is.

(I'm not making this up!! Greek humour doesn't seem like the kind I'd want to be on the receiving end of! dizzy slant spin )

The Albanian getting slapped in a tunnel made me laugh, I can adapt that to fit a UK situation devil

A British legend with British humour. You wouldn't like him.

True. Different cultures, different upbringing, different taste in humor etc etc.

Personally speaking, i rather find myself really liking SOME SPECIFIC portions of American humor instead; south park, american dad, family guy, the achmed the dead terrorist guy, one well known fat latino stand up comedian that made me laugh my ass off and whose name i now forget, etc. etc. I think BRITISH HUMOR (with some rare examples) is the only kind of humor that is perceived as completely lame and "ha-ha" dead-cold in the vast majority of the world, outside its origin.

That's it mister! You are banned from talking to me for a week and then I'll think about it!Ha!
Do you want me to list the 10 reasons for not pissing off a Greek woman?! tongue

The only people who actually believe that stuff is the ones who can't have a passionate, Juicy Greek woman for themselves*. The rest of us are in (mountain) heaven 'cause of that.

    * and of course it'd be silly to think i am actually referring to members of this board, just to avoid stupid misunderstandings).

On a side-note: TOP GEAR is one of the most impressive tv shows ever created imo and with a very worthy popularity. I enjoy it 90%, the rest 10 is the duration the said gentleman won't shut the fudge up wink

Well, if you're juxtaposing American and British humour, you'll probably find that both are much the same, i.e. grounded in the modern-day quagmire of irony (I say quagmire, because SO many people employ the phrase without actually understanding it! Alanis Morisette's song "Ironic" absolutely sets my teeth on edge for exactly that reason. Anyway.)

In all (Anglosaxon) comedy but the most slapstick on end of the spectrum and surreal at the other end, you will find irony is the most employed tool: the gentle mockery, ususally (though not always) employed to indicate the reverse of what was actually stated.

However there IS one big difference: the British style will not employ the more sentimental approach the Americans use. Americans tend to soften the ironic blow immediately.
Brits, however, remain pretty straightlaced, and will follow through absolutely deadpan.
THIS, I think, may be the thing that is at odds with many who don't "get" the British of humour.

This is best exemplified when you watch Americanised versions of Brit TV shows (Fawlty Towers, The Office): everything that really puts a sting in the British version, is softened in the American one.
That's not to say they're worse (though my personal taste runs to to British versions without even the vague possibility of anything contending), but they ARE different.

Now excuse me while I drink myself into a coma because our resident Greek Goddess is not talking to me for a week, and I see no other sensible way to pass the time.

That's something to do with cars, presented by a twat, right?
I always thought the title refered to Clarkson's toupet.

YEAP! Me a big fan too!

The show would be lame without Clarkson even though, as I said earlier, the man is a xenophobic prize prick first class and he makes me laugh big time. biggrin
