If you are worried about not having an anti-virus package then I would certainly recommend taking a look at Avira AntiVir Personal: http://www.free-av.com/en/products/index.html
There's an extensive support section: http://www.free-av.com/en/support/index.html
As you may remember, my own PC is quite archaic AntiVir doesn't seem to be too much of a burden on my system. I check for updates myself and it doesn't take long to complete an update.
If you do decide to give it a try remember to set a System Restore point before installing in case you want to get rid of it.The views expressed in this post are entirely my own and do not reflect the opinions of maintitles.net, or for that matter, anyone else. http://www.racksandtags.com/falkirkbairn -

Upgrading to version 9 was a great help - the previous version I settled on manually updating using a bit of a convoluted method. But now the update process is simple.
I remember people (not here) saying that the pop-up advert to buy the enhanced version of the software was really annoying. All I can say is that they must have very little patience. The advert just comes up the once when I start an update and it's just a case of closing it whilst the updates are downloading. The views expressed in this post are entirely my own and do not reflect the opinions of maintitles.net, or for that matter, anyone else. http://www.racksandtags.com/falkirkbairn -

Yes, a very good improvement. Version 9 is even more practical.

Indeed. Complainig about that is ridiculous. It is once a day and it´s as simple as closing the pop-up advert. As if there weren´t pop-ups everywhere on the internet.Anything with an orchestra or with a choir....at some point will reach you -

Continuing the theme of "things-that-break-just-before-Christmas", our tumble dryer packed up the other day. I've been looking at candidates for replacing it over the last few days.
What's this got to do with this upbeat topic?
Well, we identified which one we wanted - and it was one of the cheapest on the market. We went to the shop and found that it was one that they held in stock so we could take it away with us (thus saving on delivery costs as well as having to stay in the whole day when it would be delivered). And they had it in stock, and it fitted in the car okay, and it fitted into the space vacated by the old, redundant dryer. And we took the old dryer to the recycling centre without incident. And it worked a treat.
I love it when things go smoothly.
Then I found out that my DVD drive had packed up.
But we've got a new and shiny tumble dryer.

Hmmm...and being the cheapest one available, I'm guessing the tumble dryer doesn't have a USB-connection, so it could double as a DVD drive, right?'no passion nor excitement here, despite all the notes and musicians' ~ Falkirkbairn -

And just to clarify things...it was ONE OF THE CHEAPEST and not THE cheapest. I wouldn't want to be accused of perpetuating national stereotypes.
