From Francis Lawrence's (director of the upcoming Water For Elephants) Twitter feed:

Day 1 of scoring and it is unbelievably beautiful!
    31 Jan

And from Stuart M. Thomas (JNH's assistant):

Recorded guitars for Water For Elephants today. Beautiful music by James Newton Howard for a beautiful film by Francis Lawrence...
    30 Jan

Final day of score mixing on #WFE. This is indeed one of the best films I've had the privilege to be a part of. Beautiful film and score!

And the Oscar goes to... this piece of poetry. smile

Yes. Surely the composer of Freedomland and The Interpreter can do no wrong. smile

This score sounds lovely, though. I'm very much looking forward to it.

As I said, I hope it will be good, there's been a lot of JNH scores I'm completely underwhelmed by of recent years.

I know. But this kind of movie can inspire JNH to make a wonderful score.

    New project for the composer.

    DARLING COMPANION

James Newton Howard is currently working on the score for the upcoming drama Darling Companion. The film is directed by Newton Howard’s long time collaborator Lawrence Kasdan.

  6. me too, I hope it's as magical as the music in the trailer (perhaps it's even music from Newton Howard)

  7. 9. I'm Confessin' (That I Love You)-James Newton Howard, performer

Exclusive First Listen of Water for Elephants over at www.cinemamusica.de!!
    Enjoy!!
  9. I can't tell you the chill I got just now, just so far at sample 3; it was shcoking, at least for me, the -- I'm sure unintentional -- way the music captures the magical scoring and way Goldsmith would do things sometimes.

At the same time, it's a blow to remember what we are missing with his lose.
The views and opinions of Ford A. Thaxton are his own and do not necessarily reflect the ones of ANYONE else.
  10. The Stampede/I'm Coming Home sounded like TDK's Watch The World Burn
  11. Also, there's some kind of main theme which sounds similar to Desplat's Benjamin theme

Thanks for the clips, Basil. They sound really gorgeous. smile
  12. Didn't last all hte way threw, after all the preview samples, but still -- there might be some absolute top-shelf J.N.H. stuff in there.
