Strange, I "got" the Main Theme right there after my first listening of the song, and couldn´t get it out of my head after that. As much as I loathe that whole "Celine Dion / Leona Lewis / et cetera" ballad queen business, I think the last third of the song, where the orchestra gets to do "its" thing, is incredible and sets the mood quite right.

Your tastes have reached a new low. tongue

The song is god awful, and it starts god awful from note one, and it ends god awful on note 10 for me.

That's 8 notes more than Zimmer.

Me too. In fact, it's the real statement of his theme. because when it is played in the score is always in in this kind of Chill Out sound.

  2. Oh, I'm more with you than the disparagers. I think it's a fine album, although like most Horner albums, it couldn't hurt to be a bit shorter.

I wanted to like this album. But while listening to the album a couple time, I realized that I'm trying too hard to like the music (outside of the 40 second of the most Zimmerific moment) that maybe I should wait until after I've seen the movie.

Just unwrapped the "already famous before it is even officially out " Avatar CD and Mr. Horner has written extensively on his experience.
We won't try to get this one autographed since James Horner already did it!
Oh and I booked my tickets for the IMAX version of it on friday. Cool.

Only 40 seconds of 'Zimmerific moment' = cool

...of course, 40 seconds less than that would have been better but what the heck. biggrin

If Horner spent 18 months to create specific landscapes for Avatar (or in my opinion, trying to copy the style of other composers) and Zimmer only spent a couple of days and a Jam Session to create BHD, then it's obvious who wins with the "notes thing" cool

That's a horrible comparison. But did Horner really spend 18months? If this is the result, then consider me hugely disappointed.

Here´s the official video for the song. As was to be expected, it focuses on the love story.
BEWARE, there´s a LOT of new scenes in there you probably want to experience first with the movie.

FYI, the song only plays over the end credits in the actual movie.
    I am extremely serious.
  5. Yeah, I thought so (and everything else would have been too much, I think).

What do you think of the video, Thor? Does it give too much away or not?

I guess this is the video to show your girlfriend in case she didn´t like the trailers and doesn´t want to go. ^^

No, I don't think so at all. It basically only tells us that this is "fantastic world" and that there are these two blue guys that have a relationship. I can promise you there's a lot more! smile

Yesterday, i gave a listen to track called "Jake Enters his Avatar World", oh! oh! what the hell? it was almost rehash of the track called Frog Darts from Apocalypto. Is this anyway that his new motif? or Should be named as "Jungle Motif"? Hmmm..... what a disappointment? i was expecting that he would deliver some new stuff, but as usual he repeats same old music. Did anyone notice that?
