"Flaying is distinct from flagellation in that flaying uses a sharp instrument, typically a knife, to remove skin (where the pain is incidental to the operation), whereas flagellation is corporal punishment that a whip, rod or other sharp implement in order to cause physical pain (where the possible removal of some skin is incidental). In colloquial usage, the two terms are sometimes confused."
Wow! I didn't so much confuse the phrases as amalgamate them!
I always thought flaying was skinning someone by use of a whip that was re-inforced by sharp bits of metal or razors! I didn't know it was the surgically removing of the skin.
Brrrrr.

I don't think I was too far off in describing it as 'most horrible'.
Would you rather be flayed alive or hung, drawn and quartered? ( well, the appropriate answer is neither
) It's a bit like asking what you'd rather be killed by, a Lion or a Tiger....same result. On Friday I ate a lot of dust and appeared orange near the end of the day ~ Bregt -

As many of you know Charlie Chan was a character created by Earl Derr Biggers and has been the subject of much controversy especially with the Chinese culture given the fact that no one portrayed Chan who was Chinese.listen to more classical music! -

Hmmmmm....trick question?
I'm pretty sure that indeed no actor of Chinese decent or heritage actually ever played Chan... but did it cause a stir in the Chinese community? I don't know...
I'm gonna go with my gut instinct and say TRUE.'no passion nor excitement here, despite all the notes and musicians' ~ Falkirkbairn -

Yes!!! The first of the Charlie Chan series of movies featured Warner Oland, a Swede. The Chinese didn't take kindly to this at all.listen to more classical music!
