    Someone had better record it!
  1. Bregt wrote
For all Belgians and close neighbours, don't forget about the free concert tomorrow evening, on our national holiday.

    Ghent
    at St Baafs (St Bavo)
    21:00 (9PM)

The concert will feature familiar tunes by top film score composers John Powell, Nicola Piovani, John Williams and David Arnold. The Brussels Philharmonic will be performing tracks from The Generals (by Jerry Goldsmith), Shrek (Harry Gregson-Williams), Ice Age (John Powell), Daens (Dirk Brossé), The Bone Collector (Craig Armstrong), World Trade Center (Craig Armstrong), Love Actually (Craig Armstrong), Shakespeare in Love (Stephen Warbeck), Pan Tadeusz (Wojciech Kilar), Little Miss Sunshine (Mychael Danna), Being Julia (Mychael Danna), Mr. & Mrs. Smith (John Powell), La Vita e bella (Nicola Piovani), Harry Potter (John Williams), Casino Royale (David Arnold) and Indiana Jones (John Williams).

I'm staying in Ghent a few days, so see you all next week!

Hey hey, awake and alive, coming off the Gent concert there! Luckily it stayed dry and the wind only partially bothered the musicians, but most of the stuff performed sounded excellent!

    Highlights:
    - The Generals: (ahhh Goldsmith magic) smile
    - Ice Age 2: picked the best moments of the score
    - Little Miss Sunshine: I really like the score
    - Harry Potter: the people around it liked it a lot

    Absolute knockouts:
    - James Bond theme: such a thrill to hear the 007 theme live, the brass was awesome and the applause was staggering
    - Indiana Jones: great performance of the Raiders March
    - Encore: Star Wars shocked We couldn't believe but there it was, what a way to end it and the people went nuts! Even old folk

Thereby an absolute delightful evening, I saw several friends again, and we drank and had a lot of fun

    What do you want more?
I'm already siked for the concert of Williams this October
    Gent rules biggrin
    waaaaaahhhhhhhh!!! Where's my nut? arrrghhhhhhh

Actually it was recorded and shown almost simultaneously on our regional broadcast channel called AVS. I only saw it live... under grey clouds and typical Belgian summer temperatures (15 ° C)

    It was awesome. biggrin

The performances of the John Williams pieces were excellent, glad the wind lied down then. As a prelude of what is coming in October, it was sure worth the wind! The encore (Star Wars suite) created so much joy on the square and indeed, everyone went mad. The highlights were definitely Williams pieces, Powell's massive cues, selections of Arnold's Casino Royale (Vesper theme for example, and obviously ending with the Bond theme) and Piovani's terrific themes for La Vita e Bella (Life is Beautiful). I think that last one created the most amusement on the square, before Indy kicked in!

What a great scenery to have film music performed, for everyone and for free. punk

I think they just called it "Suite from Ice Age The Meltdown" then, although it was the last track on the CD with an alternate ending. As long as I haven't missed out on anything. smile wink

well, this morning apparently a hamburger tent caught fire, it seems something exploded due to gas, 7 people were hurt, some of them with severe burns

Here's the story + I might say frightening picture

I was quite close to the place two nights ago. The second implosion was freaky though. Everyone screaming. I'm happy nobody died, because it could've been worse if this happened during the day, and not 4AM in the morning.

  11. Must have seemed surreal to witness such a sight, he Bregt? The flame was at least 10 meters high, judging from the pics.

There's always some excitement to be found in Gent. dizzy
