HORIZON VARIATIONS by Max Richter.
Is his "Blue Notebooks" CD a non-film selection?
Have you heard Richter's Henry May Long? From what I've heard it sounds quite melancholic.
No, i haven't heard it yet, have you? I'd be very interested to hear opinions as all the music i've heard from Max Richter is quite impressive and very close to my tastes.
Max who?

No, I've not heard anything of his. But, I've seen his name on Amazon. I may look into some of his music if there's a lull in more "mainstream" releases. The views expressed in this post are entirely my own and do not reflect the opinions of maintitles.net, or for that matter, anyone else. http://www.racksandtags.com/falkirkbairn -

Max Richter. Apparently he wrote the original score for Waltz With Bashir - though I have not heard it.The views expressed in this post are entirely my own and do not reflect the opinions of maintitles.net, or for that matter, anyone else. http://www.racksandtags.com/falkirkbairn -

Muntz's theme from Up (the Up With Titles track). Been humming it continuously since yesterday! -

Up and Star Trek main themes are quite infectious indeed! I am glad some people are still writing themes for their film musicLove Maintitles. It's full of Wanders. -

I wish Muntz's theme was in it more. It's used a lot more frequently than I thought on first listen, but tbh it's better than Ellie's theme and I wanted to hear it again (or at least an extended jazzy version like the opening titles). -

The song (The Spirit Of Adventure) based on the theme is really fun too. -

Wellllllll, themes though they are, and as Martijn pointed out recently, they're not what I'd call traditional classic themes in the "fleshed-out" sense - e.g. Goldsmith's Trek theme.
Giacchino's Star Trek score is a particularly good example of infectious, catchy melodies for sure... but lacking in proper concert-like themes. The end titles is certainly a good stab at a concert version of the themes, but it still relies on themes that aren't particularly concert-like. It's not easy to explain because it's quite objective, but a proper proper film theme is one that translates well into a concert setting IMO. -
