To answer your question, PRINCE OF EGYPT gets rated highly because there aren't enough great Zimmer scores to fill out a top 5 without it. biggrin

People's lists will always varies according to their own standards and prejudices. I think it's on par with the one of his top five in my book, The Lion King. The thematic through-line of the score is consistently melodic and dynamic. It's chock full of his best qualities while still underscoring all the dramatic stop points. The only downside to the album is that it didn't feature all of the score, even the HGW contributions.

I have problems with 2 themes from POTC trilogy, can anyone with better ears than me help me?

1- In the beggining of "tia Dalma" from Dead man's chest is played the "black pearl" (not the black rock ehehe) theme...but then the theme heard in "family affair" or " I don't think now is the best time" when Will appears in the Flying Ducthman.

2-Is the longest theme from Lord Becket something to do witht the 3 notes motif? or is it enterely new?

    Thanks.

(I guess if I was talking about LOTR or SW the answer could be more easy to find...)

I guess some of his 2008 scores were actually written and recorded back in 2007.

Yup. Stop Loss and P.S., I Love You were done in early Summer, Horton was produced over several months and Jumper was done towards the end of the year.

Still, this is a surprise! punk

with all due respect, I rather see Zimmer and Powell together than Zimmer and some unknown protegé. 2 Fun film composers together, what's wrong with that? wink

Nothing is wrong in Zimmer and Powell working together, but come on, in a film called Kung Fu Panda? They are two respected and requested composers. I´m sure they could find something really interesting to work together.

Dare I say... I enjoyed both? (But I'm afraid I refuse to believe Zimmer had much to do with that score.)
