NP: SYMPHONY NO. 2 Vincent d'Indy

D'Indy is awesome. I always return to his superb "Symphony on a French Mountain".

A piece I've still yet to hear?

Ah man, The Living Daylights is one of the best Bond songs ever smile

Nice CD, but I prefer their earliest material.

Well you can't go much earlier than that. 1985 to 1991, all the hits from those years. But yes their early stuff is really awesome, I always go completely crazy on Train of Thought. Fantastic song.
    .
And I thought their one hit-comeback single was great too, Summer Moved On, that was in 2000 correct?

    Thor and Tim,
A piece well worth exploring. I find the Iceland Symphony Orchestra to be a nice ensemble.

NP : THE CANYON - Philip Glass

A superb, big and complex powerhouse work, I absolutely love it but the recording is crap making me turn the volume up nearly as high as it will go to get the required effect.

For such a massive work it's ( The Robert Shaw recording ) at an incredibly low volume. Salonen's recording of Itaipu is a huge improvement but unfotunately he didn't record The Canyon.

Classic 1993 debut album from the electromasters. Dark, smooth goa, impossible not to like.

NP : OK - Talvin Singh

Drum n' bass with a big Indian flavour, some more mellow tracks too with orchestral flourishes, even jazzy at times and I'm really enjoying it.

One for Thor but NOT Tom biggrin cool

Thanks for the review! Yep, it is the only available recording of Sirens. I recently got Gliere's 1st Symphony on Chandos, it's coupled with The Red Poppy suite. Haven't listened to it yet.

That's good to hear. His American equivalent, Copland, gets regularly played by orchestras here.
