Vangelis & Robert Janson - Swiadectwo (The Testimony)

Beautiful! Rich, heartfelt writing especially with the piano dominant themes by Janson. Those Poles sure know how to write meditative gems.
Nadzieja is one of my fave cues of 2008! Friggin' gorgeous!

    Is this a new one?

A 2008 score but it was released only last month I guess.

I was wrong James, the Winslet theme is heard at the final seconds of track "Christmas Surprise" and briefly in "Gumption"

In the movie Jack Black plays it on piano and it is the most endearing version of the theme, sadly this isn't present on the CD

    NP: Climactica - Paul Houseman

For being a free download from the Internet, from a relatively obscure composer, this is a great trailer-esque piece, even though it's only a minute long. punk

shame You know, i can't stand her, at all and i was under the impression that she might have done that too, a rendition of the national anthem! 'Cause she's done lots of stuff like that, she was everywhere and all the results were hideous wink

Thanks to your post I have added this to the upper list of things I intend to get. The samples were very good, even lightly reminiscent of Goldsmith. I've heard very, very little by Vangelis, but from what I have heard this seems to be atypical. And who ever Robert Janson is, hehopefully has a bright future ahead of him.

  5. Robert Janson is one of the most popular songwriters in Poland, recently controversial due to a car accident he was guilty off and put the vocalist of his band on wheelchair.

Janson scored two Polish movies already

  6. NP: A Year Is Like A Lifetime - Dimitri Shostakovich

Whenever I read a book on film music history I always find myself visiting scores along the way and so I downloaded a two of suites from a couple of Shostakovich's scores. This one here is wonderfully dramatic.

Next up - probably tomorrow now - is his suite to Five Days - Five Nights.

  7. The Trouble With Angels - Jerry Goldsmith

    It's playful and emotional.

    wink

Seriously, I agree with you, Thomas. I wish that "I used only good notes for ya" theme was used more in the score (though it was impossible because it wasn't written until the latter part of the film).

I want The Holiday 2 to be made, only for Zimmer's new score biggrin
