Did you get pics with Tom (sdtom) Thor? Thanks for the report and pictures, what a trip and so many meetings. It's impressive. shocked

It was. And no less than TWO hikes, did you see that? Just for you, Bregt! wink

No, sadly Tom never showed up at the proposed meeting. I don't know why; he hasn't commented on it so I won't dig further. Probably something personal.

  2. Due some busy schedule I still need to plan my Around The World In 30 days trip end of this year/beginning next year.

Soon I will book my flights.

This will possibly be my trip:

    Dec. 22 2012 - Dec. 25 2012:
    Florida (Miami - Tampa)

    Dec 25 2012 - Dec 28 2012:
    Hawaii (Oahu)

    Dec 30 2012 - Jan 10 2013:
New Zealand (Wellington and South Island) together with Dutchbat, including 1st Pacific Gathering.

    Jan 10 2013 - Jan 19 2013
    Australia (Melbourne - Sydney)

If you want to meet me or us in that period, please let me know.

For anyone interested there's a few pictures up on my facebook page from my trip to Nepal back in 1996 courtesy of my travelling partner Richard. Now that I have a new PC it shouldn't be too long before I get my own pics up.

Thanks, but only the second picture came up. The others were unavailable.

When you link to facebook pics, be sure to use the link at the very bottom of the screen (the small one). Then everyone can see it.

That second pic with the tent is cool, though. I see now what you said about being very 'beefy', muscle-wise! shocked

Funny how we all view ourselves, I see myself as looking "slim" there, I hadn't done any weights for a long time when the pic was taken but did lots of fitness, cycling, swimming, hiking on nearby local hills etc .

I'm a bit confused? Which button do you mean?

You did cycling, fitness, swimming and hiking? Impressive. I'll never be able to do the GR20 (which I set as a goal, once ... if possible)!

I'll watch the pictures when I'm back from work. Looking forward to more Tim! Finally. punk

    I can't, unfortunately.

Once upon a time, you could find a link at the bottom of the page that you could use to share albums with people that don't have access to the pics (due to the creator's privacy settings). But seems like they have removed that now. I think it has to do with Richard's privacy settings.

Maybe if you tagged yourself in all the pictures, we who are friends with you on facebook can view them.

Spectacular photos Tim. Truly amazing to see. I remember a picture from some time ago where there was a queue on the Everest! You were there before any of that!

You might have told already, but how long did you spend in and around Nepal?

I've been three times and spent approximately 2 months on each trip.

There were no queues for Everest, that only happens during the climbing season when the weather conditions are supposed to be perfect.

I'd recommend the book INTO THIN AIR by Jon Krakauer ( turned into an awful film with a superb score by Lee Holdridge ) which is about the tragic events during a commercial climb on the mountain back in 1996, only a couple of months before we arrived .

Me and my friend Sol on the summit of Mt. Snowdon

Freezing and no views at all, nothing but thick white mist.

ps. It's a photograph of a photograph so I guess it's not too bad considering.

And you don't have to explain anything either Bregje smile Funny enough my Mum never travelled, not even as much as a day trip to France even.

I remember an old work colleague of mine who used to say how much he enjoyed travelling the world........from the comfort of his armchair at home. biggrin

    cool

I googled a pic of Cho-La Pass, no crevasses, I guess crevasses don't make for exciting pictures unless someone is falling into it.

    CHO-LA

This pic is looking back at the way we'd come, looks like a far better day and conditions than when I was up there.
