    Well.
    1. You're just a Johnny-come-lately to the vinyl craze, and therefore unworthy of respect
    2. You try and impress us old timers with Inception? I would have been expecting some Victor Young!
    3. the camera is pointing the wrong way.

    wink

    lol at number #3.

It walks! It talks! (...funny). It's D! Fun to see you in your natural habitat, it inspired me to put the score up as well... albeit on the old fashioned CD system.

  3. Another bargain:

"Vladimir Cosma - 51 Bandes Originales Pour 51 Films"

As a download you get 17 "CDs", over 20 hours of music for £16.00!!

I don't know many of the titles but my experience of the first volume of these releases was so positive that there's bound to be enough music on this to justify the cost.

    Take a listen here.

The only score I ordered this week was Haxan, by Bardi Johannsson (no relation to Scarlett Johannson) from CD Baby. My first silent film score.

... I'll have to order Conan the Barbarian in two more weeks.

    Yes, you do. smile

I'm listening to the soundclips for Charles Bernstein's Gator.
I have some sentimental value attached to the soundtrack as its main theme is one of the very first I ever taped directly from TV (the film is just one of these Burt Reynolds "lovable rogue" movies he did three a year of in the late seventies).

I'm actually enjoying the score (well, the clips) a lot more than I'd thought I would!

...but I'm really out of cash now.
Yet it's limited to a paltry 1200. sad

Well, let's hope there's no interest whatsoever in this release and I'll be able to delay purchase for a month or so...

I'm still labeling up all the tracks from these 17 discs. Have been listening to some of the tracks along the way. There are quite a lot of comedic continental-style scores that are not my first choice listens. But there are a few dramatic and romantic titles that have caught my eye.

I just hope I can find them again!

  7. Arrived this morning - Dead of Winter - Richard Einhorn.

Interested to hear this from a composer who my only previous experience of was (like many?) "Visions of Light" for The Passion of Joan of Arc.

    Will listen to it later.

The Hurt Locker - Marco Beltrami & Buck Sanders
The Interpreter - James Newton Howard
Lady In The Water - James Newton Howard

I haven't heard of the latter composer but it appears he's done quite a lot of TV drama (Silent Witness and Spooks) and documentaries (Wonders of The Solar System & The Making of Me).

I'm curious about CHRISTUS. People talk about Frisina as having the religious sound I crave so much, but I haven't heard anything of it in his music so far.

Depends on what you've been listening to.
As for that religious sound*, have you checked out Giovanni Paolo II (Pope John Paul II)? If the main themes are too regal then perhaps the tender underscore-ish ones might be what you're after.

    Thoripedia-
religious sound: a particular kind of sound that Thor likes and associates with man being reverent and in awe of an all powerful entity (nature, god, flying spaghetti monster). Like pornography, the sound cannot be precisely defined but Thor knows one when he hears one. Numerous attempts in track suggestions by puzzled colleagues have all been dismissed as being overtly religious. Leading psychologists opine that since only Thor can identify this sound, he is either peculiar or a genius. However, Thor believes that he is both.
