N.P. "Science and Religion" from ANGELS AND DEMONS (Zimmer).

Brilliant piece, this one here. Dark and mystique with a captivating atmosphere.

  1. Yeah, the best on the album, I think.

Dude you're missing out on what I consider the best Giacchino has written so far. Give it a chance, it might surprise you, they don't play like regular game music, they're actually film scores in disguise. Especially Medal of Honor: Frontline is sublime.

Boy, Horner could do no wrong in this phase of his career. This is just brilliant.

Posts such as this really make me wonder if I should get it. I'm not a fan of the bootleg, as I have already stated but then a boot is hardly representative of a score. I think I'm just gonna go for it.

    Troy (James Horner)

Not as good as Yared's effort, but considering the time Horner had to write this, it's a major feat in itself he came up with something decent. Overall the score flows nicely enough and there are enough interesting bits throughout the score to like. It just is nothing we haven't heard before from the man. And he sure wrote better themes than the ones on display here. But I wouldn't call it bad by any means.

What's the audio quality like? I presume it must be much better than the bootleg since "James Horner & his customary engineer Simon Rhodes personally [produced this] spectacular album"? (I must admit, I've never really given the bootleg much thought simply because of the sound quality.)

I can't say my view of it has changed much after seeing the film, however I do appreciate the album presentation a lot more. Like this season of Lost, it's a very fragmented score in the movie, so the album actually does a pretty darn good job of showcasing it in 45 minutes.

I would however like the music from the fight on the drill and the chase on Delta Vega. I don't know why, but both of those cues reminded me of hearing insane John Williams action music for the first time. cool

Listening to my favourite tracks on shuffle and it threw up three first-rate themes:

The Return of Ringo - Ennio Morricone
    The Persuaders - John Barry
The Bridge At Remagen - Elmer Bernstein

    I just love this stuff!

    You are weird.

I didn't say I don't like it. But if I listen this score it's because I want action, so I listen the other stuff.

Of course, "science and relegion" is a fantastic track. The beggining with the violin and this hypnotic distorsion is mindblowing, and then my favourite part: the electronics plays a typical Zimmer adaggio.

The only track I never listen is "inmolation".

    NP:Angels and Demons (Zimmer)

I looooooooooooooooooove it. I looooooooooooooove it! I loooooooooooooooove it!!!

    This score rocks, dude!

I can see Zimmer composing this score watching the movie with the synthetiser in his hands. That makes the music change his tempo and his themes very quickly. A real SCORE from Zimmer.

PS:Now we know why Powell co composed Kung Fu Panda, Zimmer needed some of his sampers for " Black Smoke".
