It's true. Women's football is not something I'm very interested in. I see that Norway missed TWO penalty kicks. If that's true, they deserve their second place.

Considering neither penalty should have been given in the first place I call that karma at its finest. punk

Nonsense. Both of the penalties were very clear. The Germans basically tripped the attackers as they advanced.

Hurt national pride clearly blinds you to reality. Both penalties were a joke.

They were some of the clearest penalties I've ever seen.

  3. In both cases there was a very minor foul beforehand, and I doubt that if they had happened in midfield that the Norwegians would have bothered falling down. When they did it looked very deliberate to me, and that sort of blatant theatricals should certainly not have been rewarded with a penalty, let alone two. tongue

True, they may have exaggerated their falls somewhat, but the German tripping beforehand -- inside the 16 meter -- was very clear. The German defenders were too late in their tackles.
    I am extremely serious.
  4. German sportsmen and women were quite successful in neighbouring Belgium this weekend:

The German field hockey teams won the European Championship, the women's team won against England, the men's team against - cough - Belgium.

Also Christian Vettel succeeded at the Formula 1 Garnd Prix in Spa.

    Yaeeey!

we give a shit, it was big news here. Mostly because we were the outsiders
They played well, but weren't good enough to compete with the Germans

Anyway, sad they didn't win but at least they gave all they got. Congrats to Germany beer

Field hockey! Not very popular over here, but I remember we used to play that in the gym classes in school ('indoor bandy' is probably a more right term for what we played, though). The pakistani rule in this sport, right?

Oh yes, and Ronnie O' got seriously reprimanded by Barry Hearn for his Twitter comments, he backtracked on his comments and publically apologised.

On more positive news, I read in a newspaper sports column the other day that Ronnie had made nine, NINE, back-to-back 147's in practice. dizzy

I know that Alan is interested in baseball and the playoffs officially started last night with a play in game. Tampa Bay won and will advance to the wildcard game.

Anyone following the world championship in chess? It's our own Magnus Carlsen vs. reigning champion Vishy Anand. It's an historic match in many ways. The 12 matches are actually shown LIVE on Norwegian TV, which is also unprecedented. I'm addicted!

Brilliant match today, where Magnus beat Anand with BLACK! Even after what looked like a clear remis. Still 6 matches left, but the chances for Magnus becoming the new champion now is big!

Chess was big in this country at one time, particularly during the time of Bobby Fischer versus Boris Spassky, most schools had a Chess Club. I love Chess but I'm not particularly that great at playing.

Me neither. But I'm fascinated by the game, and the live broadcast with commentaries is addictive! They say this game has the potential to be as legendary as those back in the Fischer days. If Carlsen wins, he's the first from Western Europe to win in 76 years!

I'm a lousy chass player. Well, I am also doomed when it comes to maths or spatial imagination (?). I could never have become a pilot. I am clever at associative thinking (hermeneutics and interpretation).
