    This is a rather amusing mistranslation. ("Reputed" means "alleged", it's not some kind of adjectival form of "repute".)

    Yeah, I saw that too. Also surprised to see him credited as an "author" in the headline. Might also be quite misleading.
    I am extremely serious.

    Or

    "Spaniards have not always been in the best of relationships with the English Language", if i am going to use "is" instead of "have", right? The "not" was the one irregularly placed in my initial sentence, as i understand it.

    Or you can add Greeks in that sentence too* tongue

    * which will exclude me as i am a Greek-Cypriot wink

    News regarding this. There will be a bus taking people from Madrid (airport) to the main bus station in Úbeda. Still not fixed if the bus service will be free of charge or there will be a reduced price for the attendants.

    They are working on the details but the schedule is, on a provisionary basis (depending on the demand), as follows:

    - July 14, 2010 (Wednesday): Madrid (Airport) --> Úbeda
    - July 15, 2010 (Thursday): Madrid (Airport) --> Úbeda

    - July 19, 2010 (Monday) MORNING: Úbeda --> Madrid (Airport)

    "A statuette that we hope the composer can present to the city of Úbeda in the days during which the VI edition of the Festival will take place July 14-18, 2010."

    Umm what? Is that just poor English or are they actually saying they want him to give them the Oscar? confused moon moon

    They'd do well to ask a natural English speaker to review their press releases before they issue them. (Of course, I'd be happy to!) Some of the errors are rather unfortunate and don't create a particularly professional impression.

    Agreed, I appreciate they're trying, but it seems like they've run everything through babelfish.

    One thing that made me cringe every year when registering is "selecting your modality" which basically means what type of tickets do you want. dizzy

    Some updates:

    PROGRAM

    - Alex North's inspiring score for Stanley Kubrick's ambitious production Spartacus will take centre stage for the composer's 100th birthday celebrations. Spartacus will be presented in epic grandeur as part of Úbeda's Film Music Festival Symphonic Concert. This newly assembled 50th Anniversary Suite will include some of its most remarkable highlights such as the memorable love theme of Varinia and Spartacus and, of course, the film’s spectacular main title music.

    Further to Spartacus, Alex North's birthday celebrations in Úbeda will see some of his songs and non-film works featured in the Recital as well a whole retrospective of his music taking place in a stand-alone examination and listening session, specially arranged for the occasion by Varèse Sarabande’s producer and Executive Vice-President Robert Townson.

    TRANSPORT

    There is going to be a bus Madrid (Airport) - Úbeda / Úbeda - Madrid (Airport). Cost: 15€ per person (RETURN TICKET).

    HOTELS

    In a few days hotel reservation will be available through the Festival's site. As usual, there will be special rates for attendants.

    They should aim to leave the airport between 1pm and 2pm.

    On the Monday they should leave Ubeda between 10am and 11am.

    For this to work they should arrange the bus times now and make people aware of them so they can book flights accordingly.

    If there is going only one bus a day, then they should give as much travellers as possible a possibility to use this service (a really welcome one, btw).
    So the buses should leave Madrid airport somewhere at the end of the day (4 to 5 pm) and should be back there on monday morning around 10 to 11 am (the sunday night programm is lovely, but leaving Ubeda somewhere around 4 to 5 in the night should be no problem)!
    Those times would do just very fine for me and - I suppose - for a lot others as well!
