    Would be ok with you guys a bus Madrid (airport) - Úbeda at 4 PM on WEDNESDAY 14 JULY and a bus Úbeda - Madrid (airport) at 11 AM on MONDAY 19 JULY?

    Are these times fixed?

    I've been looking around for flights to Madrid and there is only the one from Liverpool (it's a direct flight) and it isn't scheduled to get into Madrid until 4:20 PM.

    Just confirmed:

    MADRID (AIRPORT) - ÚBEDA -> Wednesday, July 14 2010 at 2PM.

    ÚBEDA - MADRID (AIRPORT) -> Monday, July 19 2010 at 12PM.

    Two things about it:

    1 - Remember it's 15€ per person (RETURN TICKET)

    2 - Shortly, a form will be available at the official site so that you can fill it in.

    Crap. That's even worse! No way I can get to that bus without travelling a day earlier.

    Damn sad

    Still, would it be ok if the bus was at 5PM?
    Anything with an orchestra or with a choir....at some point will reach you
  1. Theoretically, it would be better - assuming there were no delays in the flight. Though with EasyJet that may be a big ask.

    I'm just having a provisional look around at the moment trying to get an idea of costs, etc. At the moment flights are looking to be in the region of £100-£150 (even at the "cheap" airlines), which is a bit expensive.

    I assume that the 2 PM time for the bus from Madrid Airport has been arranged because it is the most convenient time for most people?

    Well, the thing is this service has to be the more useful as possible. I mean, the more people the bus can bring to Úbeda, the better. So, if one has to wait a couple of hours at the airport waiting for the bus to arrive, it's a question of patience. Unfortunately, no more than one bus can be used, so it will have to be at a time that everybody has the possibility to use this service. Maybe it was too rush to fix the time, so take it as an aproximate time.

    Ok, just asked, and the time of departure of the bus is flexible. All the info will be uploaded in the coming days to the website of the festival, along with other interesting information such as the hotels section (with usual, with special rates for attendants).

  2. Thanks for taking the time to ask around. I'll await the information that will be uploaded in the next few days and take it from there.

    Do you have a sense of the spread of times that the people who want the bus are arriving in Madrid?

    I'm afraid a lot of people is still looking for flights. That's why timetable is flexible. The 2PM time was set on a provisional basis smile

    I just received an email from the organisation. They want us to know some important info regarding this year’s edition:

    - After five successful years, the 6th edition will be the start of a new era. The festival has already consolidated its reputation so it’s time NOT to think of it as THE LAST festival ever. This entails a reduction in the number of guests: some of the previous years had almost an overwhelming amount of guests, with all the issues and internal production problems the organisation had to bear with.

    - Musical activities will be the main activities of the festival. As has already been announced, there are gonna be three musical events: True Blood: The Concert, the Recital (non film music AND film music pieces) and the Symphonic Concert.

    - Regarding the True Blood concert, Lisbeth Scott will take part on it. Scott will also take part on the Recital with some pieces from ‘Munich’ and ‘Transformers 2’.

    - The Recital will consist of non film music works composed by this year’s guests as well as film music works. They are trying to make it as fun and varied as possible. Programme of the recital is still in development, but it is confirmed that Dave Grusin will perform ‘The Firm’ and ‘A Streetcar Named Desire’ (as part of the tribute the festival is intending to pay to Alex North).

    - As some of you know, some of the symphonic concerts of previous editions kinda tried to beat an Olympic record in terms of its length. This is over. This year’s Symphonic Concert will be 90 minutes long, featuring music from five composers (Alex North, Dave Grusin, Michael Giacchino and two composers yet to be announced) plus Patrick Doyle, who has composed an Hymn specially for the festival.

    - Some of the events have been eliminated, such as the GoldSpirits awards gala. Wise decision by the organisation IMO.

    - Mikael Carlsson and Movie Score Media will be in Úbeda.

  4. I hope that Icelandic volcano doesn't affect the plans! Who knows how long this could go on! Can't they get someone like Red Adair in to block it off?

    Luckily it's not just dependant upon whether the eruption is going to last that long. The revailing wind conditions (as well as the heights affected) will play a role also.

    A giant helicopter with a giant bucket of water should do it.

    Last time it blew up in the 1800's it erupted for two years!
