CONTACT - ALAN SILVESTRI
Yet another good score from Alan Silvestri. Very slow paced score album but i like it. The highlight of the album is Good to Go track is damn good.

Swiadectwo - - Robert Janson & Vangelis
Out of nowhere came this soundtrack, and how good it did! It's one of the best scores of the year. Vangelis' music is not bad but Polish composer Robert Janson's music is the one that really shines. Piano, orchestra, choir, violin and cello solos, really amazing music.
The film is a documentary about Pope John Paul II. It seems that the life and personality of the late pope brings out the best from composers. At least the other three scores I know from movies about the pope are also amazing: the two Karol scores by Morricone and Giovanni Paolo II by Marco Frisina. -

Underrated score yet very loved by me. The movie is all the better because of it. Such a good idea by Zemeckis and Silvestri not to go out all bombastic with this one.
Blood+ (Mark Mancina)
Very good in a RC kinda way with some superb ending cues."considering I've seen an enormous debate here about The Amazing Spider-Man and the ones who love it, and the ones who hate it, I feel myself obliged to say: TASTE DIFFERS, DEAL WITH IT" - Thomas G. -

The ending is almost always the best bit of RC cues.

Yup. Those final microseconds of silence in between the music ending and the next track beginning usually hold far more musical merit than anything that surrounds them.

No. Believe me, it needed to be said. ( personally I was 99% certain you were playing Giacchino )
Now then.........where's Jordi?

INDY AND THE LAST CRUSADE

Goldsmith's Star TreK?
I would wager it's Giacchino's Trek.
Wanna bet Jordi? If I win you don't play any Hans Zimmer at all until February, if you win I don't play any John Barry at all until February.

I certainly missed a trick here, I should have wagered NO WRITING ON THIS BOARD about Hans Zimmer / John Barry until February

IMO NOBODY BUT NOBODY does action music better than Goldsmith...actually, to hell with my IMO, it's a bleedin' FACT!
I'd put Silvestri and Williams on that exclusive list!
-Erik-
Indeed! But Goldsmith is still the Daddy!
Let's agree to disagree on that one little detail.
-Erik-
Fair do!
p.s. James Horner is hardly a slouch in the action department either.
I'd also add Giacchino's very impressive action writing to the list too.Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders. -

I wouldn't say Courage Under Fire is a copy of Glory, where is the choir then? But they have a similar slow and emotional sound, Glory's more pronounced though.

I wouldn't call the last three tracks on Glory snoozer material! But each to their own I guess. At least you like Avatar.

The sum of all his parts make this score highly enternaining: "new Age" style, tribal elements from Apocalypto, an addictive new main theme, Dodd electronic bits, Zimmer anthems....
...and yet he is so much better than this.
-Erik-
No. it's not.
When you say, it's am average score but still is a 5 star score because it's from Horner, it's really silly (yes, i'm ready for your "attacks").
Sherlock Holmes is far better score, far better music but not so easy to listen.
Again about the Holmes' crap? :big-mega-sigh:Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders. -

I love Glory (big surprise, eh?) but there are some people who seem to not like it.
I must admit... I also kinda like Sherlock Holmes. It's nothing original (though it IS original for Holmes!) but it's very enjoyable. -

it's not orginal? it's not original if you are familiar with Zimmer most intimate scores, but original for the rest of composers.

NP: Sherlock Holmes --- Hans Zimmer
Don't know what to think of this score, I think EVERYBODY expected a different score, so in that part Zimmer never fails to surprise us. The Matchstick Men approach (and theme) I'm not too fond of, and even though the first listen listen didn't give me a lot of good moments, there was something about it that stung
don't know, need to listen to this one a couple times morewaaaaaahhhhhhhh!!! Where's my nut? arrrghhhhhhh -

I never have heard from Morricone this powerful action stuff burning the strings, using heavy percusion loops and even adding pan pipes ... but Yes, it has banjo and harps.

If you say that...I have almost every Morricone score.
Anyway, Glad you enjoy a Zimmer score that you have bought
(I'm expecting your 3 usual stars for this album
)
