Mosé - Marco Frisina
Thanks to a special member of this forum ( BP!) I can listen to the original CD and not only the mp3 version of this great score. Probably my favourite from the La Bibbia series by Frisina.
Memorable themes with orchestra and chorus. It gives me the goosebumps every time I listen to it.
Keky, do you have any suggestions as which CDs to start off with Frisina's music?
NP The Little Traitor Deborah Lurie
Short score. In the vicinity of Eidelman and Portman with the acoustic guitar playing a major role in the score.
Very lovely theme and an inoffensive kind of score. -

Today I feel a detective...cigarretes, whisky and some femme fatale.
NP:Body Heat (Barry)
there are a few moments in the first track that the saxo seems to play Bond's theme
Anyway, I love John Barry hypnotic / relaxing moments. -

I would suggest this great compilation. It contains music written for La Bibbia series and other religious themed movies. You can also listen to sound clips at the page. -

A fine selection. (My favourite being Dahlia.) -

I'd add the Love Theme from Goldsmith's 'Forever Young'.Anything with an orchestra or with a choir....at some point will reach you -

Paycheck - John Powell
Not bad, but I still can't get to like all those samples and techno bases. The two Hog Chase tracks are the highlights. I think I would like this score more if there was more space given to the orchestra. -

well, it has to be from a "noir" movie. Forever Young is not . Anyway, Is Forever Young a new "discovered" score , marselus?
Forever Young is , for personal reasons, a really special score to me. The love theme is touching, and the "test flight" tracks rocks!!! -

Screw you.
And the love theme (as heard in the first track) could be from a 'noir' movie

Indeed. I've had it for years but hadn't listened to it yet.Anything with an orchestra or with a choir....at some point will reach you -

The perfect score to play during a rainy day...sound quality is a tad yucky though. Tracks 1 and 4 are particular highlights. -

NP: Spirited Away - Joe Hisaishi
I love the themes, piano, bitter-sweetness, etc.
The fact that Joe Hisaishi is consistently able to compose such impressive work makes him, in my opinion, of the most talented composers of modern times. -

Now onto.........Moon - Clint Mansell.
I refuse to bag this score. It is really, really good!! Unbelievably good film too, one of the best of last year.
Why bag it? The score is fantastic, works wonders in the film too, like every Mansell score
I love Mansell's music for Moon. Besides The Fountain and Requiem for a Dream, are there any other Mansell scores in this style? -

NP: Hancock (Powell)
Actually, I've really been enjoying this the last few days. One of his best. Mustn't have been in the mood the first time around.
It's one of those scores that I thought was just average at first, but after a few listens the same thing happened to me. All of a sudden I was noticing statements of the theme that I hadn't noticed before, and everything just seemed to connect.
It's a great score! -

Are we talking about the same Hancock by Powell ?

Motivated for Inception trailer.
NP:HEAT (Goldenthal)
I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE IT!
Next I will play : GI JOE ( Silvestri)
Why everybody hates this score?
I think it's a come back to Silvestri's Ricochet kind of action scoring.
Of course, I don't play the whole thing. Only a couple of tracks, but they rocks!
General Hawk
the pit battle
The JOE's Mobilize
Deploy the Sharks
Just About Close Enough
End Credits -

I'm not really fond of it either. A Christmas Carol was easily the best Silvestri score last year. -

I haven't heard the two hour release but I'd probably agree with Jordi considering I find it a bit of a chore to sit through the regular one CD release. It's good music but I don't hold it in the high esteem that some do.On Friday I ate a lot of dust and appeared orange near the end of the day ~ Bregt -

CutThroat Island, in it complete form, has a lot room to breath. The original release is almost all bombast... not a bad thing mind you... but I disagree wholeheartedly with any that says that this score is headache inducing! It's a phenomenal score.

I can certainly imagine that. The album presentation is also for me too much spectacle, but they probably put all those big pieces in to make it commercially more appealing. And it surely makes for a rollercoaster of a listening experience, but one that I often only revisit for certain parts. I'm sure the complete presentation has a far better balance.
