R.I.P. In Memoriam........

- CommentTimeAug 27th 2012
i'm currently in the south of France, yesterday night enjoying a specifically beautiful, incredibly bright moon, in the dead silence of the countryside, when a friend informed me of Armstrong's passing.
The extreme brightness of the moon certainly the appeared to me to be a fitting tribute to him as I dedicated a moment to one of the world's last true explorers, having gone -as one of the few in history- truly where no man had gone before.
Thanks for the inspiration, Neil'no passion nor excitement here, despite all the notes and musicians' ~ Falkirkbairn -

We spent a moment looking at the moon last night, remembering Neil Armstrong and the moon looked like something straight out of a movie: poking out from behind an archipelago of clouds. Stunning.
To be able to look up at the moon and reflect on memories of being THERE!!The views expressed in this post are entirely my own and do not reflect the opinions of maintitles.net, or for that matter, anyone else. http://www.racksandtags.com/falkirkbairn -

I remember looking at the moon while Armstrong & Aldrin were actually on it, even as an 8 yr old I felt a huge sense of wonder, I think my life then revolved around Apollo missions, well, that and DinosaursOn Friday I ate a lot of dust and appeared orange near the end of the day ~ Bregt -

I can't do better than this Tim except to say that that would be a great memory to have. The views expressed in this post are entirely my own and do not reflect the opinions of maintitles.net, or for that matter, anyone else. http://www.racksandtags.com/falkirkbairn -

Considering the Apollo missions ended in 1972 do you remember anything about them Alan?On Friday I ate a lot of dust and appeared orange near the end of the day ~ Bregt -

Not much. I remember watching splash-downs on TV. And I have vague recollections of seeing moon footage. But that is all.The views expressed in this post are entirely my own and do not reflect the opinions of maintitles.net, or for that matter, anyone else. http://www.racksandtags.com/falkirkbairn -

Where exactly are you Martijn? As I am also still in the south of France (near Albi) and we also had a stellar moon to look at.
I'm wondering if you are close by...Recognizing somebody else's strength doesn't diminish your own (Joss Whedon) -

I'm very saddened to hear of the passing of HAL DAVID

Along with John Barry and particularly Burt Bacharach he wrote some of my all time favourite songs, a true legend has passed.

Yeah, I read about it last night, but was on mobile so couldn't comment as I'm unable to easily inserts much-needed links.
You chose the ones I was going to, too.
91, a very good stretch.
And still too short for a talent of that magnitude.

Never my cup of tea, he was an older generation entertainer, still, I was sad to hear of his passing, he played a substantial part in British TV history.
Here's a clip of him and Geoff Love, you'd NEVER get this kind of TV now....

Not my kind of entertainer either. But when he was on TV when I was a kid it wasn't something I would leave the room to avoid. I seem to recall that he was always interesting to listen to on talk shows. The views expressed in this post are entirely my own and do not reflect the opinions of maintitles.net, or for that matter, anyone else. http://www.racksandtags.com/falkirkbairn -

Just read that the actor Michael Clarke Duncan has died at the age of 54.
He'll probably be remembered by most for his fantastic portrayal of John Coffey in The Green Mile.
Sad news. -

may he rest in peacewaaaaaahhhhhhhh!!! Where's my nut? arrrghhhhhhh -

Ouch, sorry to hear that. This completely passed me by as I was travelling California.
A powerful actor in every sense of the word -- his role in PLANET OF THE APES (beneath make-up) is great, as is THE GREEN MILE, obviously.
54 is way too young. Strange, too, since he seemed so healthy and 'buffed'.I am extremely serious. -

He changed sizes in various films but in Green Mile he was enormous, afraid to say that you don't get that big without a little "help" and that could have been an underlying problem. On Friday I ate a lot of dust and appeared orange near the end of the day ~ Bregt -

Hm. Good point.
Almost all my WWF heroes from the eighties are either dead or severely disabled in their early fifties thanks to that "little help".'no passion nor excitement here, despite all the notes and musicians' ~ Falkirkbairn -

I'm familiar with him by name (mostly through the TV show), but I often confuse him with Andy Griffith and The Andy Griffith Show, for some reason. After reading the obit, I realize it's the guy who sang the beautiful "Moon River".
In any case, I'm sorry to hear about the loss of someone who meant much to you, Timmer.I am extremely serious. -
