Someone could make an extremely good 30-40 minute deluxe edition of it and I'd be first in line.
Well, that's never going to happen so since you already have the CD you can easily edit out the fluff and play only these tracks.
1, 2, 5, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 15, 18, 21, 24, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30

WP: The Chronicles of Narnia 3 (David Arnold)
Needless to say it's better than the first 2 Narnia's
I'm not entirely sure it is, really. I think all three of the Narnia albums are wildly inconsistent listens and the strongest is probably Prince Caspian. (Arnold's could have been made to sound much better with a better album presentation, but they missed the chance to do that.)
for me Narnia 3 has the most epic music, problem is that half of the album is filler music
Once again there's an album that lasts too long for its own good
After the first 3 tracks, wich introduce 2 sublime and elegant main themes themes the rest of the score is dull and bad devoloped (included the 11 minutes action track).
I never tought i could say that but, HGW Narnia score has become one of the best fantasy scores of the last 10 years. With 2 memorable themes and where the new age elements fits very well the narnia world. Evacuation london, Narnia lullaby, The battle and it's only the beggining are sublime. And it is perhaps HGW best score. -

I'll give it a whirl, thanks!
I just realised the last time I made a deluxe edition of a badly-produced CD was another Arnold score (Casino Royale). -

I think they're pretty similar in terms of quality. Persia is a little more consistent though. -

Great main theme performed by a vocal soloist (in euskera language) and the strings. I love how always Illarramendi makes great themes in his scores.
Indeed, Illarramendi just can't do bad music, no matter how hard he tried. I personally prefer the rendition of the theme heard in track 7: "Transcurre la espera". This is pure heaven.

The series' best musical moments are certainly on Arnold's album; but I doubt I'll ever listen to it again. It's too badly-produced. Someone could make an extremely good 30-40 minute deluxe edition of it and I'd be first in line.
Solution:
1.Rip album to computer
2.Select favourite tracks
3.Burn CD containing tracks selected in step 2
4.Take pen and write "Deluxe edition" on jewel case
5.Place CD (from step 3) in jewel case (from step 4)
This to me seems a much better solution than never listening to it again.

But the deluxe edition will put the tracks in the best order, maybe chop bits out of some or combine others. To do that you would need to listen to it a phenomenal number of times. You know, the sort of thing an album producer should do! -

Taste is a personal thing though. Having some stranger decide on what I will like will always be inferior to making the choice myself. The best albums will always be the ones with LOTS of music, because it's so simple to ignore or program out the stuff I don't like.

I don't actually disagree with this but I am truly envious of anyone who genuinely has the time to do this. To feel qualified to make the choice myself, I'd have to listen to the music far more times than realistically I'm ever going to be able to do.

I would say that by definition the best albums are the ones with exactly the right amount of music, not those with too much (or too little). But I'd rather have a five-star album which misses a couple of great pieces than a three-star album which includes loads of padding. And as I get older and more cantankerous, I struggle to understand those who wouldn't rather have that! -

plindboe wroteno because that stranger most probably knows how to do that work better than you because it is his job after all. Like a chef cooks way better than you even if you do cook at home . It is strange and kinda of an old topic however that people like to play album producers and sound engineers because they have hi-fi's and Cd's or composers because they bought cubase

I can sympathize with the fact that it requires time and effort to pick the best tracks yourself. You make it sound a bit too much like a chore though...
I've seen too many occasions where album producers have selected complete crap for the release while omitting amazing music, to come to the conclusion that I want to make the decision myself.

That's entirely personal though, there's no right amount of music. Any album will have either too much or too little depending on who you ask.

Having a chef deciding what I will like is just as bad. I've never been to a restaurant that made better food for me than what I can make in my own kitchen. The thing is that I know what I like. A stranger won't have the faintest clue and I can easily concoct something I prefer.
Just because a restaurant charges 10 times more, doesn't make it better.

Do it. It's very great. Reminds me of James Horner. Both has written such a lyrical, lush music. Luna de Avellaneda, El Hijo de la Novia, La Isla del Cangrejo and Yoyes it's his best. Also, the 1995-2005 compillation it's very good. -

I guess I'm exagerrating a little to make my point. I have had some amazing food before that I would have no idea on how to cook myself. But generally I think that just because a cook is skilled doesn't make him an arbiter of my taste.

It's a score to a new war movie comedy made with dolls and models and things.
It looks kinda crazy. But the music is top notch!
