I hadn't checked this topic for a while. A pity I thought, but then there was the mother of all spiders. shocked

I think I'm going to leave this topic alone for a while again.

If you hadn't made that footnote yourself Christodoulides I would have called you on it. It is NOT my experience that men go soft when they see a beautiful/hot woman. However, they do seem to get slightely less articulate and intelligent. I believe there is some thruth in the saying:

God gave man a penis and a brain and just enough blood to make one of them work.

I use the same method and it works fine for me. i tend to look trough the glass and study them a bit before releasing them. I just don't really like touching them (or letting them touching me) and I would definitely wouldn't like to have mommy with the kids crawl over my hands, but look at her trhough a glass... No problem.

I do the same. smile Fascinating creatures for sure, but soooo yucky at the same time. I bet they feel the same about us though.

Skating_Lientje wroteBy the way, you guys are really killing the myth here of the manly men who help the distressed screaming women when a spider is in the house. Only Peter would help out a spooked-out girl...

    Good for you punk

Hehe, I would. It's my job whenever my gf notices a spider. But to tell the truth, I'm probably as terrified as she is, though I act all manly and cool about it.

I actually think it's kind of cute: mommy spider with all her little ones.

Now that doesn't mean that I would pick her up and cuddle her if I would come across her any time soon, but it does look beautiful to my scientific eye.

If she would wonder in to my house, I would definitely get her outside safely and not kill her.

Massive respect to Elin punk cool beer Unfortunately the vast majority here turn into quivering jelly men at the mere mention of a spider.

Used to? Past tense? So there is no way I could get a closer look and maybe even have them crawling on my hands? Damn, and here I thought I might have a chance to try something I hadn't done before.

But now a more serious question Tim: How cuddly are spiders? I mean a dog, cat even a guinea pig or pet rat 'knows' their owner. They come to you, and seem genuinly happy to see you. How about spiders? When you get them out of their terranium, do they know you? Do they interact with you, or is it more that you can be fascinated by them, and they can't be bothered?

I'd imagine having a huge-ass spider or an anaconda or a friggin crocodile as pet, they wouldn't bother about you. I think Timmer can confirm this.

Well, yeah... I'm just saying, you know, they're spiders. Personally I'd much rather have a dog. Dogs aren't creepy. And you can play fetch with them. You can hug them too. Spiders just sit around all day looking creepy.

Concerning the Anaconda and the Crocodile, depending on how big they are, may well be VERY concerned about you, sizing you up as food lick

But yeah D, I know where your coming from, I doubt there's any connection.

I had to put weights on top of the spider cage. Tarantulas become most active at night and I caught Gomez trying to shift the cage off the shelf to get at the spider during the early hours of one morning, Gomez would have eaten the spider given half a chance.
