    Classic biologist! biggrin wink

If I was a real scientist, I would definitely be a theoretical physicist. I'm very comfortable with the weird and wonderful world of an unproven model! (And of course the weird and wonderful world of proven models.)

  3. Nice video, Justin.

I always breath a sigh of relief when these images get past the 73 second mark.

And I was wondering what the take off would sound like with relevant sequence from John Williams' "Mouse Robot and Blasting Off" track - "The Millennium Falcon/Imperial Cruiser Pursuit" to you youngsters.

Thanks for the link! Nice. smile

And Alan, thanks for your reply to the video. If it wasn't for that I'd never have opened the video without any explanation about what I'm going to see...

Speaking of science: we visited Body Worlds last weekend and I was very impressed.

Even more interesting than I thought, especially the body slices and the healthy and ill organs compared.

    Here's a video: http://www.bodyworlds.com/nl/rotterdam/ … #HumanSaga

(although we saw Body Worlds & The Cycle of Life)

Fascinating, I'd like to see it.

Thor, you should have seen a four part Channel 4 show with Dr Von Hagens where he performed autopsies on all different parts of the human anatomy, I've never seen anything so grisly in all my life.

I saw that 7 years ago I think, when it was quite a controversial exhibition. Is the horse and rider still there? That was spectacular! I didn't liked the embryos that were misformed. slant

    Thanks for the video!

We've got this stuff in the lab as well, but it's mostly related to spotting for exam purposes, only in the basic stages. I reckon we'll be getting the real deal in the coming year and after that. Not pleasant, but you can't learn how to fix something until you know how it works! smile

I've also checked out some of String Theory and quantum mechanics, it's really interesting. There's way too much high-level maths involved for me, though.

Not too keen on stuff that is inside the body, for some reason (including blood). There's a REASON for why it's locked up inside. Of course, this fear is the primary point-of-departure for most horror films and monster films; the physical "Other".

Guess that's one of the reasons why I have severe difficulties with "torture porn" films.

This exhibition was not eeew to me at all, although I expected it could be.

It all looks very clean and dry. I guess it's because there is no blood or fluids or anything, that takes most of the eeeew factor away. I can look at bodies and organs like this, but I can't look at surgeries on TV for instance.

By the way, I'm glad not all humans have this fear, otherwise there wouldn't be any doctors...

Thinking about it, the eeeew thing isn't a very natural response. You would die from hunger then if you had to live as a hunter or something...
    smile

Anyway, very interesting exhibition. No blood there. It looks like plastic (because it is).

  6. I think it is. But I also think that a lot of people are disappointed they it isn't an announcement of the discovery of extraterrestrial life. The hush-hush big press conference announcement with astrobiologists to be present...people added two and two and got something different to four.

Announcement of the discovery of extraterrestrial life ? Those people need to quit watching sci-fi movies all day long and do something useful with their lives instead. This is a very interesting scientific development.

I have a thing about tests. punk

Scored 100% in the first test and 93% in the second. Got question 6 wrong in the second test, but I don't really agree with the test-makers on that one.
