NP: Snapshots (1989) - Jan Hammer

A fine studio album that contains the radio version of the theme from Eurocops (1988-1992). A great theme but I always preferred the original version which never has been released.

Nice album. Picked it up at a cut-out bin in the early 2000s.
    I am extremely serious.
  1. Native Instruments released a second video featuring Jean Michel Jarre.
Also Electronica 2 will be released on May 6th and can be pre-ordered now.

  2. NP: Équinoxe - Jean Michel Jarre

Not listened to this in years. I'd forgotten just how excellent this was. Definitely Jarre at the height of his talents.

  3. Yes. In some regards I prefer this even over Oxygene.

Same here. If OXYGENE was the pioneer, EQUINOXE was where he took that sound and ran with it in a more artistically defined direction.

Happened/happens with most bands too. Unlike certain debut directors, they only hit their artistic stride on their second or third or fourth album.

NP : SOLID AIR - John Martyn

One of my all time favourite albums. It was ranked 67th greatest British album by ( NME or Q...can't remember ), out of so many thousands to chose from that is quite an honour though I would have ranked it far higher.

Next time you're lucky enough to be with a real live woman* stick this album on, she'll love you for it.

*as film music geeks this is as unlikely as England ever winning the World Cup again wink

  4. NP: Discovery (1984) - Mike Oldfield
Discovery / The Lake / The 1984 Suite

Oldfield at the top of his game. Marvellous!

Tell that to my girlfriend! Please!

I'm severely lacking in guarantors for my music choices!
  5. MICHAEL JACKSON - OFF THE WALL

After watching Spike Lee's documentary about the Michael's rise to fame from his Jackson 5 years right up until this album I just had to listen to it again... and soak it all up. A catchy album full of great songs and produced to perfection. MJ is a legend, but so are all the people that contributed enormously to make him one.

This is great! Stumbled upon this through the Discover Weekly playlist that Spotify proposes. Trompettist fusing pop, rock, soul and Middle-Eastern accents. I love it!

If you had waited I could have illuminated Thor myself. I'm very surprised Thor didn't know this.

p.s. I reckon J.G.'s THE MUTANT from Total Recall should be added to that playlist, vast, expansive, perfect for a 'wonders of the universe' .

  10. ^ Very good call! I think I'll exchange THE ENTERPRISE for THE MUTANT. The theme from Star Trek is too obviously related to something other than COSMOS. Thanks!
Bach's music is vibrant and inspired.
  11. You could, however, add some of the V'Ger material from Star Trek for that easily smile
