I could name a hell of a lot, most of which you'll most likely have never seen but I'll start with wildlife documentaries made by the BBC ( some of which you have seen ), the list is endless. On Friday I ate a lot of dust and appeared orange near the end of the day ~ Bregt -

In terms of writing and characters, I would also place Battlestar Galactica a little bit higher than Lost. Of course, that wasn't always perfect itself - but when it was at its best, it was spectacular.
Lost is no masterpiece, but it is brilliant escapism. -

BSG did nothing for me. Lost, on the other hand is a show that I've enjoyed more than any other that I've seen, except maybe The West Wing and the X-Files (around seasons 3-5). I thought the two hour premier for this season was really good. Here are some of my random thoughts:
I, for one, really enjoy the idea of a sideways flash with the whole alternate reality. And you know they're not just going to show you all our beloved characters living normal lives--there's going to be some kind of awesome tie-in to the reality where they are all still on the island. I'm glad Juliet's dead - I never liked her and Sawyer together. For a minute I wondered if they were going to have her live. Where "Locke" also seems to be the smoke monster now, it makes me think that Ben's whole judgment and subsequent vision of his daughter (telling him to do whatever Locke says) was all just a set up by Locke to make him kill Jacob. It could also be that Christian never really spoke for Jacob but that he was working for the guy currently living through Locke (we really need a name for that guy - how about Man in Black (MIB)?) We know that Jacob hadn't been in that cabin for a while, yet Christian was there claiming to speak for Jacob, but he was trying to get Locke to move the island so that he would leave, perhaps because he needed to leave and die and be brought back so that the MIB could kill Jacob.
That's enough of my ramblings for now. -

He's been called that since, like...forever ago.
After having some time to think about it the premiere was pretty damn good. It's not the Lost that I used to love, but it was better than anything in season 5 (other than maybe Some Like It Hoth).
Best bits:
- The alternate time line LA stuff was great.
- Underwater island!
- "Sorry you had to see me like that."
- "I want to go home."
- "Nice to see you out of those chains"
- The music was better...slightly. I think having so many themes has killed it now as there's no room for anything new. Yes, we got the big 815 montage but that was nothing compared to Oceanic 815 from season 1 or the Oceanic Six theme from season 4. And then there's the new Others motif which is ok I guess. Since season 5, other than Jacob's theme, it's all felt a little too different.
Worst bits:
- Kate on the run (again!)
- Juliet's cheesy dialogue and digging her out of the hole took forever!
- No answers, just a billion more questions
- The flashsideways device seems to obvious
- No indication of where we are headed (knowing the end of season 4 at the beginning was a fantastic idea imo)
- Sayid not dying was just irritating, they wasted too much time on this only to erase it all at the end of the ep
- Next episode is going to be a Kate episode
I was thinking in 2 things:
1-what if the coffin is not lost, what if jack's father is not dead? what if jack has some kind of deja vu of his "other life"? I know there is a conversation with his mother, but they didn't say nothing about a funeral...what it's other kind of event?
2- what if all are having "flashes before her eyes" and in the end of the season all his "conscience" jumps forever to this "alternate" reality?
-
If anything I think the two realities will be linked. How could Juliet possibly know "it worked" otherwise.
I think the whole missing coffin thing was to keep the mystery of Jack's dad going. I did wonder for a while if in this reality he would be alive.
-
I think juliette had a Flash before his eyes, and she saw herself having a coffe with Sawyer in the other reality. they are supposed to be together. I think we will see this scene in the finale
-

Yeah, 'cause that's not a shit way to end a show is it!
Did anyone else like that bizarre music when we saw the island underwater? It was very out of place and strange for Lost, but I enjoyed it!
-

this 2 episodes was , indeed, pretty FUCKING good. And if not were for Jack Bender's direction , I could even put them over the pilot.
Do you know what is the best thing? All these past season we have learn a "language" and now we use them to understand what it's happening.
I mean
we only can understand why the "bodyguard" use the ashes to protect him because we "trained our brain" when we saw the ashes protecting the "cabin" in the past seasons. Now, in this premiere we have used all our knowlege to put together all what we are watching.
-

Not really...it was kind of an answer, it just explained what the ashes did but we still don't know why or how.

I agree with you Anthony that
the arrival scene is not as touching as the "oceanic 815" fron the first season. neither the music or the montage. But I'm glad to Bender closed in a coherent way the flight. I was afraid that they could have been lost this "touch" after the uninspired fifht season
Is the fourth season the less neceasery season of Lost? -

Why do we use spoiler tags when the thread is LOST (Spoilers!)
Anyway, good premiere, although I keep saying this is a tv show that works more because of the addiction it creates rather than the story that, let´s be objective, went out of the writers hands a lot of time ago. My vote is a cross-over between Lost and Fringe. Both are dealing with alternate realities. Why don´t join both in a final episode?
The Good:
- The montage when the plane arrives to LA. For me it worked alomst as well as the montage in season one because you know much more things of the characters and what they (ore his/her alternate versions) have been through.
-Some dialogues( Boone - Locke, Jack - Locke, Hugo - Sawyer (his look when he is leaving the plane is priceless).
The Bad:
- The CGI of the sunken island was poor to say the least. Come on, do we have a big budget or not?
- What the hell was doing Desmond in the plane? They had better explain that well, because he was pressing buttons at the hatch at the time of the flight.......
- .... or maybe not, because: why the hell is the island under the sea when the accident had to happen?
- I already hate the japanese guy and all his disguised friends. I want them to die sooner than later.Anything with an orchestra or with a choir....at some point will reach you -

The spoiler tags at least let us read some comments if we haven't been able to watch the latest ep.

It's a TV show that's on weekly. Of course there's no budget.

Well if a bomb went off then the hatch will never have existed and Desmond will never have ended up on the island, so there are many reasons he could be on the plane. -

I think that's because they're back in "their" (the original) reality's present where the bomb never did go off.
The one where Desmond was on the plane existed from the moment it did go off. -

Are you seriously asking this? After all this years? after how well it's explained in this premiere?
