NP : BODY HEAT - John Barry

Brilliant Barry score perfect for this blazing hot day.

For those who may not have heard this here's the wonderfully evocative and ominously sexy theme..

    BODY HEAT

Man I miss John Barry, he was in a league of his own.

NP: Cosmopolis - Howard Shore / Metric

I really can't tell where the Shore ends and Metric begins - this is clearly a very organic collaboration. The end product is interesting, but I'm still on the fence as to whether it's actually enjoyable.

    BATMAN - Danny Elfman

"Finale" is still my favorite piece of music from Elfman, and it was one of the first films he ever scored!

Well, he HAD done 14 things before that -- 3 TV shows and 11 movies -- but yeah.....still impressive, I agree!

Wow. I didn't realize he had so many films by then. I was under the impression that Pee Wee was his first film and Batman his second. Still, considering how many films he has scored since then, can't this still count as one of the first? smile

According to IMDB, it was his second film score, the first being "The Forbidden Zone". All the rest were films where he did songs, or songs were used. And no TV show scoring listed before that. You're closer than Thor.

It has good moments and I enjoy it but I don't get the love many here have for it. How much did JNH actually compose?

I'm still keeping all my extremities crossed and hoping that Howard Shore's unused score is released. The appearance of Corigliano's Edge of Darkness is a promising sign.

  3. FORREST GUMP - ALAN SILVESTRI

A delightful score from when Alan was still inspired at least once a year.

Aaaaah, I can imagine you in your garden Tim on this gloriously sunny day with the beautiful The Genesis Cave cue playing appropriately in the background.

Well, until the crashing Kahn theme interrupts the serenity of the moment that is!

  4. THE MATRIX RELOADED - DON DAVIS & JUNO REACTOR

Now here is an example of a tightly produced score, no bland cues in sight, just sheer awesomeness from start to end.

I fooking love it !!! punk

I love this weather but I had to come indoors now and drink water ( beer later biggrin ), hot with humidity is what I really hate.

  5. Hot and humidity is what I hate too, hell I don't like it even above 25 ° C. I'm not a summery guy at all. smile

HARRY POTTER AND THE HALF-BLOOD PRINCE - JAMES HANNIGAN

The videogame score. It has a fair share of film-like cues that are very nice to listen to. A pleasant game score overall, one that flows by without getting any kind of generic feeling about the music, there's actually more thought put in this than in most Hollywood scores. I think I prefer the one Hannigan wrote for the 5th film's game though, as it holds more memorable tracks.

NP: Moby Dick - Christopher Gordon

This blows me away every time I hear it.
As big as any of the grandest of classic styled scores yet it was written for a tele-movie!
This along with On The Beach are among the very best music scores ever written for television! cool

Gordon would be my first choice for many projects these days. Not just because he's so good but because he's so underused. Such a talent.

    Was playing...

    Sauce Code Chris P. Bacon

Very enjoyable, mildly intelligent score with an excellent main titles piece. The softer momenta are quite nice. This score has definitely put "Bacon" on the map for me.

    Now playing...

Star Trek V: The Final Frontier Jerry Goldsmith

The expanded edition. Jerry Goldsmith and expanded editions go well together. Although I'm happy with existing album for the first film, I am looking forward to the new release rather a lot.
