    Sorry, but that game score (the cues I've heard) didn't do anything for me. If anything, it was a bit irritating.

    It doesn't take long to get used to, IMO. But if you aren't expecting it when you first spin the score it does seem rather 'odd.' All the reactions to people thinking something was wrong with their computers or the files is priceless and is something I thought might happen. tongue

    "People are used to hearing a hybrid style between electronic and orchestra, but Remember Me's music is not that. It's difficult to explain that the electronic you hear when the live orchestra is playing comes directly from its manipulation..." This may be a bit lost on the listener as the music - at the end of the day - still sounds like a mixture of orchestra (minimally manipulated) and electronics (orchestra that has been manipulated). The composer does get a warm feeling inside knowing what he has done, and it gives something extra to talk about in interviews. And at the end of the day, it does add to the overall depth of the project.

    He, he...

    Don't get me wrong, Erik. I like orchestral scores, I like electronic scores and I like scores that merge them organically in different ways. But this didn't feel organic at all. More like tweaking and screwing with the orchestral recordings for gimmicky effect, like it's dragged over its head. Furthermore, I didn't find any melodic base, no interesting texture and it was overall too bombastic for my taste.

    So a negative first impression. But I might give it a couple of more shots, since you rave so enthusiastically about it.
    I am extremely serious.

    Those few moments that were a bit jarring initially are beginning to settle down. It is still a great album for those temporary odd moments.

    As for thinking that it was something wrong with the computer/device/file, there is a "what the!?" moment whenever that happens in any track I listen to for the first time!

    You really need to give the entire score a listen, Thor, because there's a whole bunch of everything that you listed above that you think is absent from the music. "Remember Your Childhood" is gorgeous, however, "The Ego Room" will drive you nuts! spin dizzy

    I am rather surprised that Man of Steel apparently hasn't been heard by anyone yet, when the film is coming out in only a week from now.

    Perhaps the powers that be have been very careful to protect their little baby and have instructed those with promo copies to keep completely quiet about it until a specific time - with the risk of losing all access to subsequent promotional material if the embargo is not adhered to?

    Some have received promo's from Watertower. Unfortunately (or fortuantely, wink ) I haven't received mine yet.

    This is the most entertaining thing I've heard from Elfman in a long time. I'm not sure if some bits sound very Powell-ish, or Powell sounds very Elfman-y? uhm Either way, some bits sound very Powell-ish.

    As a child I loved to watch Siegfried, Tristan and James on Sunday afternoons. The whole family did. Best are the first one or two seasons based on the original stories.

    The title song is cheering me up no end. Numerous versions on this release mixed with some typically excellent emotional themes.

    That's a great song Alan! Great find. I listened a bit to the rest of the score but it never gets this uplifting and powerful, but I haven't heard all of it.

    Yeah. Required listening for anyone who says that Two Steps aren't capable of versatility (along with Dreams and Imaginations). Although some of the more comedic tracks like "Baron von Scheissenhausen" (biggrin) are really annoying...still, small price to pay for a track like "Clock Tower Motherfucking Parade." Yes, that is the official name. punk

    If you like this you should check out Two Steps From Heaven which is in a similar vein, but more of an homage to 80s and 90s action and adventure scores. smile

    There are 3-4 versions of the title that are all excellent - and slightly different from one another.

    But even if he did, he'd be forced by the producers to write something generic. Silvestri did at least manage to get a relatively decent theme in there, and it's a moderately entertaining score... but it could have been so much better. (As we say.)

    Indeed, so true. What marvellous times we live in. slant ( I do like Silvestri's score )

    Mine was an unquestioned fantasy that Gordon was given time and full rein to do as he pleased.

    NP: FAR CRY 3: BLOOD DRAGON (Power Glove)

    Now THIS is a game score worth celebrating! Glorious nods to the best of 80's synth scores (Fiedel, Faltermeyer, Moroder etc.). Easily one of my favourites of the year, regardless of genre.
    I am extremely serious.
