    I just noticed that Screen Archives lists Jerry Goldmith's CAPRICORN ONE as an upcoming release, with a planned release date of late august.

    Is this known already? Big news? (I just noticed the Intrada version is up at ebay for $98.95...).

    If you look at the tracklist, it seems like its the LP version, as opposed to the film version. And since the recent Filmtracks review (http://www.filmtracks.com/titles/capricorn_one.html) makes a point that the LP version is absolutely superior, this could be pretty exciting news?

    As you probably know, I almost always agree with you about these things. But Capricorn One - wonderful though the LP release was - well, the Intrada release was even better.

  13. As I said in the NP thread, I was editing out pieces of "Legend", to makes suites like I did for two other scores. Anyway, looks like there will be three mini suites. While I am still figuring out Suite 2, Suite 1 is complete.

    For the msot part I was able to blend the pieces together rather nicely, except one part which is a little clunky. My copy of the 2CD boot is, sadly, MP3 sourced so I can't offer loseless here. Enjoy the first suite:

    They're both worth having, but the original tracks are more in keeping with what Goldsmith was doing really well in that period.

    One of the edits came out so beautifully, I don't think anybody who does not know the score could find it.
    Some edits are a bit more clunky, but I did the best I could with the bits I edited out of the score.

    The final two suites will be on their way.

    I enjoy King Solomon's Mines but it's not one of Goldsmith's best, I don't think. Not sure the leitmotif style was one he was comfortable with (he rarely used it other than here).
