No, this is the "Would Zimmer be a good choice for Potter movies?" thread...

Long time ago since I watched it, but as far as I remember I think he did a damn good job. The best score is still Azkaban though, that worked wonders in the film.
I have my problems with Doyle´s recent style, and he overused it in Potter, which nearly ruined the movie for me. I agree on Azkaban, though. If they would bring back Williams for Deathly Hollows, and if he would score them in that fashion, I would prefer him above Zimmer, but not if Williams decides to return to his Disney magic style. The first two were great scores, and the style fit quite nicely to the childhood adventures, but now, I want to see something much darker and dramatic, like Azkaban, as you said. -

Azkaban is the best Potter score till date, IMO. Of course I will prefer Big J over Hans for Deathly Hallows! But now with Yates directing the final, I'm afraid he might bring back Hooper...
Doyle's score of GoF was 100 times better than Hooper's OoTP, but I find Doyle's note-repetitive style very annoying and, IMO, he did not make use of some opportunities like the Voldemort track, which could've been much better, IMO. Nevertheless, I like the score quite a lot. -

Not surprising, but here's the confirmation on Zimmer working on ANGELS AND DEMONS
Unsurprisingly, Hans Zimmer has been hired to score Angels and Demons for director Ron Howard, following up their smash hit film version of The DaVinci Code from 2006. Zimmer's involvement in the sequel has just been confirmed by the Gorfaine-Schwartz Agency.

Spanglish! I'm not sure if it should be called love theme (perhaps it's John Clasky/Adam Sandler's theme), but I really love the moment when piano plays it on The Beach.
And Pirates 3 love theme is
I like the love theme from The Holiday too, but it's mainly Morricone

Why not? I haven't watched the film and don't know if it can be "classified" as a love theme in the context of the film itself, but musically it has all the right ingredients for a beautiful piece of this kind, especially the "bus" cue which i consider some of the most beautiful pieces Zimmer has ever written.

Quite in the same territory as Spanglish i'd say. Good stuff.Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders. -

Definitely William´s and Elizabeth´s love theme from PotC III. It captures all the love, all the action, and all the tragedy of their love in a swift and uprising move. -

I assume the theme you mentioned above is the main theme with Spanish feel? It's actually a theme for Flor (Paz Vega) and her daughter... so I'd say it's a love theme between mother and daughter.
And I agree on Bus Stop cue, it's so beautiful and emotional.
The theme I mentioned is the theme from The Beach (especially piano part at 3:40-, and solo cello(?) at the end) and first part of Bus Stop... As far as I remember, it's mainly from scenes with Adam Sandler, or he and Paz Vega. There's a kind of romance between them, so I called it "love theme".
I saw the movie several times and I thought Zimmer's score supported the story very well. Not over-sentimental, but still emotional.Labels are for cans, not people. - Anthony Rapp -

Yes, it's an amazing and somehow underrated score. Overlooked because it's not an action work and has no electronics AT ALL.http://www.filmmusic.pl - Polish Film Music Review Website -

The Holiday is something different for me. Zimmer trying to write an outwardly romantic comedy score, rather than his usual more serious efforts.http://www.filmmusic.pl - Polish Film Music Review Website -

But it has more serious moments in the vein of Spanglish too; the closing rock oriented track is a real treat.Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders. -

Regarding subject matters, The Holiday is definitely a chick-flick (I enjoyed it a lot though
), on the other hand, I (and Zimmer, said in an interview) consider Spanglish as a serious drama with comedic moments.
I love The Holiday, the opening "overture" is amazingly beautiful and pleasant. But on Spanglish I feel much deeper emotion...Labels are for cans, not people. - Anthony Rapp -
