I'll be getting this for sure but what i am eagerly awaiting for is ANGELS AND DEMONS, which i HOPE will be of grand-scale instead of this low-impact, minimalistic approach.
Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders.

Having never read the book ( Brown's Da Vinci Code was more than enough thank you very much ) does it warrant a grander scale score?

    Anyone here read the book?

"Spoiler".....that would have been nice slant rolleyes
Anything with an orchestra or with a choir....at some point will reach you
  1. Well, you´ll know that right from the beginning, so it is a spoiler, yes, but it will probably be in every trailer... The movie follows along the same lines like DVC, it is centered around another hunt for clues and facts, but this time, the stakes are much higher, and the finale is a bit more spectacular (but not necessarily more believable). I enjoyed reading it, though, since I have been to the places where it all happens. Never read DVC, but I liked the movie (of course I do! smile ), and love the score, of course. I can´t wait for the A&D score.

    Thanks to Thomas:

    Universal Pictures and Imagine Entertainment

    present

    Frost/Nixon

A film directed by Ron Howard

    Music by Hans Zimmer

Whitney Crist worked extensively with Frank Langella in the upcoming Universal Pictures release Frost/Nixon, directed by Ron Howard and starring Mr. Langella, who masterfully portrays the role of a beleaguered Richard Nixon as he embarks on the ultimate chess game of his post-presidency in a battle of egos with David Frost, motivated by the president’s obsession with establishing a favorable historical legacy.

Nixon, the film reveals, was also a pianist and a composer, who in 1977 displayed the extent of these skills on the Jack Paar Show. Mr. Howard makes subtle use of this aspect of the ex-president in the screen adaptation of Peter Morgan’s original play, adding depth and complexity to an already multi-dimensional world figure.

In a matter of weeks Mr. Langella, tastefully avoiding affectation, became a comfortable and seasoned pianist with the repertoire of one very ‘tricky’ piece of music. Appearing on the set of ‘Nixon’s formal room in San Clemente’ in front of his guests and the entire crew, Frank Langella inhabits President Slash Pianist Richard M. Nixon.

‘It was exactly what Ron wanted for this scene. It is essential to keep the audience immersed in truth. If, by a series of cuts from Nixon’s face to trained hands on a keyboard, you end up losing a part of your audience because it becomes conscious of craft, you are in effect undoing the trust you have earned as storyteller to this point. The foundation of your veracity begins to perforate.’

Hans Zimmer will bring it all together with music and sound in what promises to be a brilliant and haunting soundtrack.

Release is set for December. It is unusually elegant film making. Please don’t miss it.

No we don´t, actually. Zimmer should leave this kind of projects to his ghosts, I mean colleagues, and focus his atention on his more interesting projects. The only thing he does getting involved in projects like Madagascar 2 is feeding its detractors. Anyway, he hasn´t changed yet, I doubt he will.
And I don´t usually talk about the quality of a score before listening it, but I dare to say that this one will be average, and I feel generous today.

Remember, some of the so called "experts" (= people that know everything in general even before they've heard a single second) have decided some months ago that The Dark Knight and Kung Fu Panda will be the worst scores of the year -- and they were wrong!
